It doesn’t sound like Dave Chappelle will be returning to TV anytime soon but he did stop by San Francisco’s Wild 94.9 morning show to explain his recent incident at a charity event in Miami, where he got into a bizarre exchange with the audience instead of performing his routine during Alonzo Mourning’s Summer Groove charity event.
He also talked about whether or not he would return to television, putting Kanye West on TV for the first time, WTT and more..
more from the interview after the jump…

Those radio guys are tools.
Cigarettes are bad. I hope that was a joint in Chappelle’s hand.

Always great to hear from Chappelle. I wish he wasn’t so “comfortable” with his lifestyle at the moment. I mean that selfishly, obviously, seems like he enjoys taking time off to spend with his family. He may have been funny to us for 6-7 years (or 2 for people who only watched the show) but like he said, he’s been grinding for 20 years. It just sucks for us because he is letting the prime of his career go away all because of a bad TV experience. OK fine, don’t do TV..shit don’t do movies…but dang entertain US! He doesn’t even do road shows unless you happen to be a lucky fan watching a comedian at a SoCal improv and he pops up on stage.

“I listen to alot of NPR”…the man is hilarious!!!

man those radio hosts were just amateur! They singlehandedly ruined the vibe with their grating, hyperactive and unfunny jokes. It’s almost like you can tell they want so bad to be noticed (“we got Chappelle, here’s our big break!”) that they’re cutting him off while he’s answering some dumbass question that they themselves asked.
major ball drop on this one!

Hecklers are apart of the stand up game. get your comedy back in tact Dave you’ve been in your comfort zone too long.

sigh…i love Rico, he’s a former coworker and really fun person, but I understand the frustration with this interview because it’s such a big opportunity and it’s maddeningly unfocused.

It’s good to see Chapelle showing his face in the states again. I am hoping he can revive his career. He is one of my favorite comedians of all time. If you are looking for another source for new music check out my blog by clicking my name. Thanks.

What’s with the wildly inappropriate shots at Ohio, Native Americans, etc? They laugh at their own jokes like they’re funny, but it’s just rambling nonsense and poorly formed questions. The only reason why I bothered to watch this was to hear what Dave had to say.

Always happy to hear some Dave. since i discovered my brother’s pirate/bootleg dvd’s of the chappelle show at 11 back in 04.
Its just upsetting & weird to see how he had to just “get away”.

i am not appreciating these horrible shots at ohio. . i can tell they’ve never been outside of their state smh. ignorance it’s not even relatively funny

These radio djs were pretty bad. I was looking forward to hearing Dave give us an update on what is going on with his life and if there was a possibility of a comeback yet these guys ruined it with the most randomly lame comments and jokes. Like, why are you talking about Nicki Minaj and Alicia Keys’ butt. Who cares? Not to mention how they were continuously cutting Dave off, like dudes, let the man answer the question! Bad interview, great comedian!
