Titled Devil’s Pie: D’Angelo, the film provides a behind-the-scenes look at D’Angelo’s life in the build up to his 2015 Second Coming tour, which came in support of his long-awaited comeback album Black Messiah. The documentary was directed by award-winning Dutch filmmaker and photographer Carine Bijlsma.

While no official release date has been announced, Devil’s Pie: D’Angelo is one of a handful of music documentaries premiering at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival, which takes place in NYC between April 24 and May 5.
