Chris Brown traveled cross-country last week to promote his forthcoming sixth solo album, X. The pop star paid a visit to Hot 97 studios on Friday evening for a no holds barred chat on The Angie Martinez Show. For their first interview in quite a while, they discuss Brown slowly reconciling with Rihanna, the two moving quiet before public knowledge, admitting he was in a love triangle through video, overall being honest in relationships, and if RiRi is his soulmate.

When discussing plans for his new album, Breezy reveals he wants to release ten videos in support of his new LP. He confirms a ‘couple’ records with Nicki Minaj, recently writing for Jennifer Lopez, and hoping to land a J.Lo feature. Chris mentions he hasn’t watched the Law & Order SVU episode loosely based around his 2009 incident with Rihanna, calling the show ignorant for touching on a past issue.

The multi-talented entertainer closes out his candid chat touching on not getting along with Drake, his run-in with Frank Ocean being a publicity stunt for the Grammy Awards, watching Rihanna’s conversation with Oprah, and focusing on becoming a legend.

Watch the 24-min interview after the jump……

On staying low key when first getting back with Rihanna:

“It was kind of….it was weird, it was more like I was more low key I’d go to the house or she’d be in the studio with me and then people would come to the studio and see her and like ‘oh…..hold on, I’m confused.’ We just started off as friends.”

On his video admitting to being in love with both Rihanna and Karrueche:

“I wanted to be more of a man. Because I think me being young, and even with past issues in my relationships in the past life, I did a lot of lying, I did everything just to make sure nobody gets hurt in the process. So, I just don’t feel it’s necessary anymore in my life, nobody can hate me for being honest. I had to just be brutal. I told both of them that the video was coming out….I’m not trying to be a player.

It’s never an easy situation to tell another person that you still love another person, so that’s kinda difficult. But our friendship, me and Karrueche’s friendship, is still cool. We’re still good friends.”

If Rihanna is cool with him being friends with Karrueche:

“Um, yeah, to a degree……”

His plans for the X album:

“I’m trying to do 10 videos because my album is X. I’m gonna do 10 videos and I’m gonna start shooting them before the album comes out. When the album drops, I drop all 10 videos so you see the visuals with the actual songs that you’ll love. I just got Nicki on a couple records, I’m working with J.Lo. Hopefully I can get her on a feature for my album, it would be incredible just to do an actual dance video. Straight raw dance and hip-hop J.Lo dances, so me and her to do that would be amazing.”

On the Law & Order SVU episode loosely based around his relationship with Rihanna:

“I didn’t even watch it ’cause I feel like it was ignorance. I feel like they were reaching. It’s four years later, you want to bring ratings and boost up a story.”

If Rihanna is his soul mate:

“To a degree, yeah. Before I was madly in love with her, and when I lost her I was like, ‘Man, I don’t know what I’ma do.’”

His issues with Drake:

“Me and him don’t see eye to eye. I just think personally there’s going to be people you don’t get along with. We never gonna see eye to eye, so you go your way, I’ma go mine. It’s about everything.”

Does Rihanna have issues with Drake?:

“That’s a good question. I don’t really try to talk about him when I’m around her. I just lay the pipe.”

Frank Ocean painting him as a person looking for trouble:

“I think it’s a lot of strategies people try to use when they’re up for awards. It’s a sympathy role, so I don’t have to go that route. I just do my music, do my thing. For him, it’s whatever. Love your music, bro. Have fun.”

Rihanna’s interview on “Oprah’s Next Episode” and passing on an invite from Oprah:

“I’ve been invited, I just say no at this point. I’ll go to people that I’m comfortable with, like Angie I love you. I never wanna be in a situation where I feel like I’m attacked or I’m gonna be trapped for whatever it is. I think I’m paying for whatever I’ve done and I’ve learnt from it and I’m moving forward, so I only want to surround myself with the people that are about positivity.”

On his legacy and wanting to become a legend:

“I just want to be…..not arrongantly speaking, I just want to be a legend.

I think for my music now is just to make my mark in the game as just an established artist and just a real artist and a culture ambassador. I feel like I’m just getting successful, I think the hard part is over now. I went through the obstacles that God kinda made me go through so I could be humble.”
