Chance the Rapper Talks Kanye West, Predicting Trump’s Win, Debut Album & More

During a recent trip to the U.K., Chance the Rapper paid a visit to BBC 1Xtra for a one-on-one sitdown with DJ Semtex. In the 28-minute interview, Chance spoke on writing his first rap in 4th grade, Kanye West inspiring him to start rapping, Jaden Smith first bringing Chance to meet Kanye backstage at Made In America 2014 in L.A., and their creative relationship starting with light work on Surf before leading into The Life of Pablo.
Touching on Kanye’s last solo LP, the 23-year-old speaks in-depth about the Pablo recording sessions, Justin Bieber and others recording to “Ultralight Beam” and more. Chance and Semtex continue their conversation touching on the Chicago native’s relationship with his father and taking him as a guest to the White House, his thoughts of Donald Trump’s win (“I’m afraid of him“) and picking David Banner as the perfect artist to transition to President.
The interview ends with Chance touching on what’s next for his music, revealing he’s working on his official debut album as past projects were just mixtapes. Watch the full interview below.
