As days pass, those closest to Nipsey Hussle are breaking their silence after the devastating murder of the Crenshaw rapper. A day after Nipsey’s girlfriend Lauren London spoke for the first-time following his death, YG opened his heart to reflect on his close friend. YG, who collaborated regularly with the 33-year-old on records like “F**ck Donald Trump” and “Last Time I Checc’d,” appeared a vigil for the rapper/entrepreneur in Los Angeles earlier this week.

You was a real big bro to me no kap. YOU 1 OF A KIND!,” said YG. The Compton star would go on to speak on their America’s Most Wanted collaborative album coming out one day, and more. “THE WORLD DIDNT KNOW WHAT THEY HAD TILL YOU WAS GONE. I BEEN KNEW! @nipseyhussle.”

29-year-old Eric Holder has been arrested after a 2-day manhunt, identified by police as Nipsey’s alleged killer. Sources close to Nipsey tell TMZ that the rapper was at his Marathon clothing store on Sunday (Mar. 31) to pickup some new clothes for a friend who was just released from prison after serving a 20-year sentence. Nipsey wanted to hook his friend up with clean clothing before meeting his own family and friends later that day.

A spur of the moment move, Nipsey did not inform his security team or his camp that he was heading to the store. On Wednesday morning (Apr. 3), Holder’s bail was set at $7,040,000. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that the alleged shooter is being held in solitary confinement and not allowed to mingle with the general population, because he’s a target. Holder will remain in solitary once he’s transferred to L.A. County Jail while awaiting trial.

On Tuesday afternoon (Apr. 2), the Los Angeles Police Department apprehended and arrested 29-year-old Eric Holder for the murder of Nipsey Hussle on Sunday (Mar. 31) during an incident outside of the rapper’s clothing store The Marathon in South Central, Los Angeles. The entertainment industry is grieving as Beyoncé, Rihanna, Diddy, Drake, Nas, Olivia Wilde, J. Cole, LeBron James, Stephen Curry and more have paid their respects to the 33-year-old star.

Lauren London, Nipsey’s long-time girlfriend and mother to their son Kross Asghedom, broke her silence with an Instagram post on Tuesday night. “I am completely lost. I’ve lost my best friend,” said the actress/model, posting a series of photos of the couple and their son Kross. “My sanctuary. My protector. My soul….I’m lost without you. We are lost without you babe. I have no words.”

Over the past week, social media has been buzzing following the premieres of both Netflix (Fyre) and Hulu’s (Fyre Fraud) respective documentaries on the disastrous Fyre Festival in 2017. Founded by Billy McFarland and Ja Rule, the former is currently serving a six-year sentence for reportedly defrauded investors of $26 million, while the Murder Inc. rapper took to Twitter on Sunday (Jan. 20) to defend himself as viewers pointed their finger at Ja Rule for his part in the festival that scammed hundreds of fans and drained local businesses out of millions.

“I love how ppl watch a doc and think they have all the answers,” tweeted Ja. “I had an amazing vision to create a festival like NO OTHER!!! I would NEVER SCAM or FRAUD anyone what sense does that make???”

During the Twitter rant Ja Rule claimed he was also a victim too, citing that both Hulu and Netflix used unethical practices in their documentaries. McFarland was paid to appear in Hulu’s feature, while Jerry Media, the social media firm behind the Fyre Festival marketing and promotion, produced the Netflix special.

“I too was hustled, scammed, bamboozled, hood winked, lead astray,” said the Queens rapper. “@Hulu PAID BILLY!!! That money should have went to the ppl in the Bahamas… @netflix PAID fuck Jerry who also did all the promo for the festival… the docs clearly have Billy at fault but let’s blame the rapper lmao ok…”

Cardi B had social media buzzing and make headlines last week after an Instagram post where she spoke out on the partial U.S. government shut down. Clearly frustrated, the Grammy-nominated star was in support of the 800,000 workers, who were ordered back to work without pay. Along with over 14 million views, Cardi’s video post caught the attention of all the major media outlets like CNN and MSNBC. The viral moment appears to have triggered right-wing commentator Tomi Lahren, who took to Twitter to react a few days later, which Cardi responded to on Sunday morning (Jan. 20).

“Looks like @iamcardib is the latest genius political mind to endorse the Democrats. HA! Keep it up, guys! #MAGA2020,” said Lahren in response to the video. Never the one to back down, Cardi soon responded with a short and scathing remark. “Leave me alone I will dog walk you,” tweeted the Bronx star.

After Lahren called her statements on the subject “moronic” and used the #BuildthatWall hashtag, Cardi called Tomi Lahren a “sheep.”

“You’re so blinded with racism that you don’t even realize the decisions the president you root for is destroying the country you claim to love so much,” said the ‘Bodak Yellow’ rapper. “You are a perfect example on no matter how educated or smart you think you are you still a SHEEP!”

After taking an unprecedented extended time to confirm supporting acts, the NFL officially announces that Maroon 5 will be joined by Travis Scott and Big Boi at the 2019 Super Bowl halftime show. The Houston rapper and OutKast member will perform alongside the pop/rock band at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Feb. 3.

The announcement comes after various reports surfaced that various artists including Rihanna, Cardi B, P!nk, and Adele turned down the headlining slot in support of Colin Kaepernick. The former NFL quarterback hasn’t played in the league since 2017 following his kneeling protest during the national anthem to shed light on racial inequality.

Scott, who has been criticized from public figures like Michael B. Jordan and Reverend Al Sharpton for potentially taking the Super Bowl gig, released a statement to Billboard about his decision to join Maroon 5. “I back anyone who takes a stand for what they believe in,” says Scott. “I know being an artist that it’s in my power to inspire. So before confirming the Super Bowl Halftime performance, I made sure to partner with the NFL on this important donation. I am proud to support Dream Corps and the work they do that will hopefully inspire and promote change.”

Scott partnered with the NFL, donating $500,000 to Dream Corps, an organization founded by Van Jones, that works on fighting for social justice. JAY-Z was one artist who according to sources, tried to talk Travis Scott from accepting the performance slot.

Frank Ocean is the cover star of GQ Magazine’s February issue. The Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter is interviewed by his Blonded Radio co-hosts, Vegyn and Emmett Cruddas, via phone last month. Frank discusses the decision to make his Instagram public, covering songs like Aaliyah’s “At Your Best…” and Aubrey Hepburn’s “Moon River,” moving to New York City, finding inspiration over the past year through photography, and using his influence to get people to vote during midterms by incentivizing with exclusive blonded t-shirts only available to those who voted.

Cruddas: “I wanted to start off by asking you about the gesture of making your Instagram public. I know you don’t do a lot of interviews, but how do you feel about having the opportunity to say what you want to say when you want to say it without being mediated like that?”

Ocean: “I feel like there was dissonance between how I was seen by the audience and where I was actually, so that contributed to the decision to make my Instagram public, for sure. But there’s also the idea of dialogue and discourse and conversation—like theater where the audience can interrupt you versus the television.”

Cruddas: “With regards to reflecting and putting out a more rich tapestry of self-representation, I’m interested in how you use cover songs as part of your repertoire. “Moon River” was the one release this year, and they’ve always figured as part of your work, going way back to the Coldplay song [“Strawberry Swing”]. What’s your method for interacting with a song people may already have an idea of—with other people’s music?”

Ocean: “Nowadays, I have to live with the song for a bit and I have to see if it’s worthwhile to interpret it first. To see what I can do with it, where I can insert my voice. In the past, I would just like a song and I wouldn’t think about it as seriously as when I do “Close to You” or “Moon River” or “At Your Best…” It’s much more deliberate than when I was just focused on the rap mixtape approach of taking a beat or flow, swapping the lyrics and performing it. The performance almost being the stream-of-consciousness, in-the-moment thing, whereas now I would much prefer having the song be with me for more time before I have to record it.”

Kanye West’s recent “therapy testimonials,” mainly aimed at Drake and Travis Scott, took another turn on Saturday morning (Dec. 15). in the early hours, the Chicago rapper/designer expressed some frustration with Ariana Grande. During Kanye’s lengthy rant directed at the Canadian superstar, Grande sent a tweet out referring to the Kanye vs. Drake saga.

“guys, i know there are grown men arguing online rn but miley and i dropping our beautiful, new songs tonight so if y’all could please jus behave for just like a few hours so the girls can shine that’d be so sick thank u,” said the pop singer, referring to her new single “imagine” and Miley Cyrus’ “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” song with Mark Ronson and Sean Ono Lennon.

West saw that comment and decided to respond. “I know Ariana said this to be cool and didn’t mean no harm but I don’t like even slightest level of slight commentary from someone I know loves and respects me,” said Kanye. “All of this foolishness weighed on my mental health so @ArianaGrande you know I got love for you but until you’re ready to really make sure everyone’s ok don’t use me or this moment to promote a song,” he followed up with soon after.

The “thank u, next” singer decided to respond to West’s remarks a few hours later, apologizing for what she calls was an insensitive joke. “With all due respect, I don’t need to use anyone to promote anything. Period. I was making a comment [about] what men were doing at the time vs. women,” she wrote. “It was a joke which I understand now was probably insensitive. I apologize if I was in any way triggering and hope you feel well today.”

Grande’s bestie Nicki Minaj would later chime in, sending her blessings to Kanye and SNL star Pete Davidson, who deleted his Instagram after sending out a disturbing suicidal message.

“We can be so insensitive. God bless Kanye & Pete,” said Nicki. “Being flippant about mental illness speaks more about you than them. Stop saying the word love & live it. Love is an action.”

Offset was set to release his solo debut album today on his 27th birthday (Dec. 14). Instead the Migos rapper is trying to pick up the pieces, following the recent decision made by his wife Cardi B to leave him. The 27-year-old posted a video on Instagram on Friday night, asking his wife for forgiveness in the emotional clip. “We’re going through a lot of things right now, a lot of things in the media. I want to apologize to you Cardi. I embarrassed you. I made you go crazy,” says Offset, who revealed his only birthday wish is to get his wife back.

Soon after, Offset would apologize for his infidelity during the cheating scandal. “I was partaking in activity that I shouldn’t have been partaking in, and I apologize. You know what I’m saying? For breaking your heart, for breaking our promise, for breaking God’s promise and being a selfish, messed up husband.” The Atlanta native would also speak on the couple’s newborn daughter Kulture, who he has not seen since the break up, “Kulture, I want to spend Christmas with you.” The public plea would end with one last apology to the mother of his five-month old. “I am sorry for what I have done to you. I didn’t f**k that girl, but I was entertaining her, you know what I’m saying? I apologize, and I love you, and I hope you forgive me. My birthday wish is just to have you back.”

The Kanye West vs. Drake saga continues. On Thursday afternoon (Dec. 13), the former took to Twitter to blast the 6 God over in direct shady moves and subliminals thrown on records. The rant starts with Kanye sharing a screenshot of a text message, from someone in his management circle revealing Drake wants to clear his So Far Gone classic freestyle “Say What’s Real,” a record the Canadian star raps over West’s 808s & Heartbreak song “Say You Will.” From there, the G.O.O.D. Music CEO expresses anger over Drake’s continued shots at him on Travis Scott’s “SICKO MODE,” French Montana’s “No Stylist,” and again denies revealing information about Drake’s son to Pusha T during their rap war.

Kanye also reveals that Drake bought out the first two rows of Pusha T’s recent show in Toronto, where the Virginia rapper escaped an attack on stage. “Been trying to meet with you for 6 months bro. You sneak dissing on trav records and texting Kris talking bout how’s the family,” says West.
