Maybe Idle Time was the wrong choice of title for Buddy. The Compton kid shot onto the scene back in late 2011 with his “Awesome Awesome” video, produced by and featuring a cameo from Pharrell (whose newly launched i am OTHER label we was signed to). Even with plenty of time and even more promise in front of him, Buddy just hasn’t been able to catch that break like other young’uns from the West Coast.

Now off i am OTHER and currently unsigned, according to DJ Booth, Buddy has finally released his long-awaited debut project. The 13-track tape includes a lot of his old leaks (that still sound fresh today) as well as new material showing his growth. But it’s the star-studded guest list that will no doubt catch your eye first: he’s got Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus, Kendrick Lamar, Freddie Gibbs and Pharrell, who also handles production alongside heavy-hitters like Chuck Inglish, Boi-1da and Cardo.
