Big Sean Models Vests and Jeremy Lin Misses NYC in GQ Magazine

Big Sean cuts a sharp figure in the new issue of GQ Magazine, modeling a look that probably doesn’t work in real life…the wool blazer over quilted vest instead of a winter coat. Sean can pull it off because he’s so slim, but any regular guy with half a paunch would end up looking like he’s an undercover cop trying to walk around a dinner party with ballistic armor on.
It looks fantastic on Sean and country gentlemen in the English countryside. But be careful trying this at home.

Elsewhere in the issue, there’s a nice story on Jeremy Lin and his dizzying 2012 from total obscurity to New York Knick revitalizer to Houston Rocket franchise…Here’s an excerpt from GQ’s Jeremy Lin coverstory: “Rocket Man” by Will Leitch:
Lin is already exhausted by the time we get on the West Side Highway, and he’ll actually pass out on me before we successfully navigate the nightmarish traffic and drop him on ESPN’s doorstep. But for now, he’s just bummed to be leaving so soon. He misses New York, its people, its fans. “You can’t ask for a city or a fan base to embrace somebody more than they embraced me,” he says. “I know it’s kind of silly to talk about it with only two years under my belt in the league, but going in before free agency, I was like, ‘I want to play in front of these fans for the rest of my career.’ I really did. I really wanted to play in front of the Madison Square Garden fans for the rest of my career, because they’re just unbelievable.”
Damnit, man! Ugh. At least the story says that Lin has shot one of those awesome “This is Sportscenter” ads. Looking forward to that. While I’m critiquing menswear though…the cut of those pants Jeremy has on? Aside from being too tight for his athlete’s legs, the hem cutting off right above his high-tops is weird.

Info what about Big Seans jeans? Those are looking kinda painted on as well! I’m one of the few that could pull off Big Seans look without looking like I have on a ballistics vest…..I could probably get away with wearing the ballistics vest as well……lol

@brucebaner1, those jeans are not painted on. This is what it looks like when you wear the right cut of pants in your actual size.
@Inf, I agree on the cut of Lin’s trousers being a hair too tight around his thighs, they should have let out some extra fabric or gone the next size up, for sure. And the reason the hem sits higher is so the trousers don’t bunch at the bottom and presents a cleaner silhouette. But the flip side is this rarely looks good with athletic sneakers, so there’s that.
Ooooh also, the sportscoat and vest look is a heavy Italian look and generally us menswear nerds are the ones repeating the look, so that makes for about .000000001% of the population, haha…..
Sean looks awesome, though! Good to see him in my boys’ Ovadia & Sons gear!

Firstly, Lin’s trousers are going to look weird with Hi-tops no matter what. I think the Suit fits well, the trousers are the right amount of slack.
I think Sean just has a TINY frame because i am 5’8 & slim and if i wore really skinny trousers my legs wouldn’t look that small.
