For those not familiar, Bobby DeBarge was famous for his role as the lead singer of the ’70s R&B group Switch, and later as a member of his family’s band DeBarge. Both groups were signed to Gordy’s Motown Records imprint, Gordy Records.

In the midst of all his success, Bobby struggled with substance abuse and legal issues as many musicians did during his time. He passed away in 1995 at the age of 39 due to his battle with AIDS.
