While A$AP Rocky’s LongLiveA$AP (pre-order on iTunes) fell victim to being leaked a month early, his debut album has received plenty of great feedback. The standout song getting most listeners attention is the Hit-Boy-produced posse-cut, “1Train.” On the record, Lord Flacko calls on some of underground rap’s best in Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$, Yelawolf, Danny Brown, Big K.R.I.T. and Action Bronson. The gritty cut is praised for bringing that raw New York sound made popular in the 90s, and the debate continues as to who had the best verse. In an interview with Kyle Harvey of NBC’s The Grio, Rocky speaks on what he tried to accomplish with the song.

“I really want to take it back to the essence of the 90s, it was the generation of the underground. Even though I have a lot of mainstream appeal, I come from the underground. And I just wanted to give back to that, that’s why I was really strategic on who I picked to be in the lineup as far as the artists and features go. With Joey Bada$$ and Action Bronson and Danny Brown, they’re from the underground. Yelawolf he’s really underrated if you ask me, I think he’s one of the best lyricists of our day. I feel like everybody on that track has a value for our generation.”
