A$AP Rocky Meets His Namesake, The God Rakim! On the Angie Martinez Show
Posted by Mikey Fresh under Fashion , Relationships and Family , Videos[16] Comments
Back in December A$AP Rocky hit up Hot97 for his first interview with the one and only Angie Martinez. During their chat, Rocky revealed that he was named after the legendary Rakim and his sister was named after Eric B (Erica B). Angie was pretty damn amazed and promised to make his first real encounter with Rakim happen. They met once before, but Rocky was just a baby and doesn’t remember any of it (Rakim actually signed his diaper during a chance meeting in Harlem). Well, earlier this week Angie made good on her promise and surprised Rocky with a studio visit with the MC, himself. Check out the footage above.

Complex Cover Story Uncut: A$AP Rocky Talks Drake, Odd Future, & Getting Groupies
Complex: What’s been the greatest compliment that you’ve gotten about the tape?
A$AP Rocky :Pharrell said his favorite song is “Out Of This World.”
Have you met him?
FaceTime. I’m going to work with him down in Miami [soon].
Drake brought you out during Fashion’s Night Out. Did you ever entertain a deal from him?
He never even tried. He never brought it up. That’s why I give that guy so much credit. It’s like he just really wants the world to know, “Yo this guy is really great. He inspired me.” I appreciate that dude.

Thanks to ILuvLova for the footage:
On Jan 27th, iLuvLola brought to Toronto one of the most sought after new artists in hip-hop, A$AP Rocky. Working with Community54 for an exclusive 1hr in-store and The Union on a sold out show at Opera House. Rocky killed the stage performing records like “Pretty Flacko”, “Peso”, “Purple Swag”, “Trilla” and he also brought out Drake for a surprise performance of “Cameras” and “The Motto”. Needless to say, A$AP Rocky, A$AP Twelvy, and their DJ J Scott, shut the city down. (Video by: Naphtali McKenly)

Wow…That’s crazy that The God’s son actually sounds like him in 85′. Damn…just told on myself. Don’t matter. I’m still a fan of the old AND the new. I dig ASAP Rocky and his movement. Angie Ma bringing the cypher full circle. Nice…

Damn that was definitely one of the most heartfelt hip-hop moments in a minute. It’s always great to see the God MC. I didn’t really check for a lot of A$AP Rocky joints before this but seeing his humility really made me go youtube his joints. He’s very talented. I hope he stays focused and makes awesome things happen. Good look Angie!!!
