Afroman Arrested For Punching a Female Fan During a Show (Video)

Afroman still rocks an impressive ‘fro these days, but he clearly wasn’t the lazy, lovable stoner we used to know while performing in Mississippi on Tuesday (February 17). The Palmdale rapper, who is best known for his 2001 hit “Because I Got High,” was arrested after socking a female fan in the face — in the middle of his set.
More details and footage below…
As you can see in the footage from TMZ below, a woman wandered on stage and began grinding on Afroman, at which point he turned around and unleashed a vicious right hook. Bizarrely, Afroman continued his set as if nothing had happened, until police eventually stopped the show and arrested the rapper. He was charged with assault and later released on a $330 bond.
However, Afroman’s rep issued a statement to Billboard claiming the punch wasn’t malicious while blaming the venue’s lax security for letting fans on stage.
“This was a completely involuntary reflex reaction to people infringing on his stage space,” his rep said in a prepared statement. “It was uncharacteristic behavior that was initiated by outside uncontrolled forces.”
His rep blamed a lack of security at the venue — something included on his rider — and noted Afroman often has trouble with fans coming onstage.
Perhaps the only thing more shocking than the punch is how Afroman is still playing to hundreds of people.
