We don’t want to jinx it, but it looks like that long-awaited 2Pac biopic is finally happening. Following the recent hiring of music video director Benny Boom, the Morgan Creek-funded movie, which is now called All Eyez On Me, has cast its Tupac and Biggie.

Despite big names like Anthony Mackie and Brandon T. Jackson thrown around for the coveted role, newcomer Demetrius Shipp, Jr. has been picked to portray ‘Pac. According to TMZ, it was the film’s producer L.T. Hutton who approached Shipp about starring in the movie due to his striking resemblance to Tupac. Shipp, who only has a small role in the TV movie #unlock’d to his name, subsequently took up acting classes four times a week.

As for the role of Biggie, Morgan Creek are going with a more tried-and-tested formula by casting Jamal Woolard, who portrayed Christopher Wallace so brilliantly in the 2009 biopic Notorious. Demetrius Shipp, Jr. recently shared an Instagram photo of himself and Woolard, aka the 21st Century Tupac and Biggie, which is exciting and eery at the same time.

Keep it locked for more details on All Eyez On Me, which will hopefully be hitting theaters in 2016.
