The entertainment world all gathered at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Sunday (Aug. 28) for the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards. Hosted by DJ Khaled, the night opened with Rihanna giving the first of her four performances throughout the evening, before accepting her Video Vanguard Award presented by Drake.

Beyoncé, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj, Future, Britney Spears and G-Eazy, and Nick Jonas with Ty Dolla $ign all performed during the three-hour show. Plus, Kanye West delivered another memorable moment, hitting the stage for a four-minute speech before world premiering the music video for “Fade.”

Before the main show started, artists smiled and posed for the mob of cameras on the red carpet. Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, 2 Chainz, Chance the Rapper, Rita Ora, Tinashe, Amber Rose and plenty more showed off their stylish outfits before making their way into The Garden for all of the evening’s action.
