2 Chainz was robbed at gunpoint in San Francisco yesterday, TMZ reports. Police responded to a shots-fired call at 4:30pm — just hours before the rapper was due to perform at the Oracle Arena in Oakland. The artist formerly known as Tity Boi, who told Police he only had his wallet stolen, wasn’t cooperative and “wanted to handle it himself.” Video surveilliance footage allegedly shows the rapper and his 14-strong entourage running away from the incident like “cockroaches running from a flashlight.”

UPDATE: San Francisco Police Department have confirmed to Radio.com that it was a member of 2 Chainz’s entourage, not the rapper himself, who was the victim of the robbery.

UPDATE #2: 2 Chainz reacts to the reports on Twitter.

UPDATE #3: Contrary to what they reported earlier, Radio.com now confirm that 2 Chainz was, in fact, the target of the robbery. Hopefully this is the last of the conflicting reports.

According to [police spokesman Dennis] Toomer, the rapper was walking with his entourage in the 800 block of Howard Street at about 4:30 p.m. when they were approached by a suspect carrying a handgun, who fired a gunshot. While most of the group scattered, 2 Chainz reportedly fell to the ground and was approached by the suspect, “who robbed him and fled the scene.” Toomer said the rapper was robbed of his wallet, which contained credit cards and cash money, as well as a cell phone.

   nice to know that bay area police, who have a history of brutality against people of color, refer to the VICTIM and crew as COCKROACHES. nice to see that black men running for saftey after being shot at and robbed are referred to as COCKROACHES by the police, no less.

   I mean was he suppose to do? Get into a shootout and maybe lose his life or mess-up his career with a body? He has a family to think about. FYI – real street guys duck and run when bullets fly or guns are drawn everyday. I don’t expect Denzel or Jason Statham to shoot back so why would 2chainz.

He almost lost his whole shit, FOR REAL! Artists from all over the world come to the Bay & perform & walk around & kick & NEVER get F$%^ed with. You know why? Because they don’t wile out! Keep to the nice parts of the Bay UNLESS you have a Hood Pass! He coulda spent the whole damn day in the nicest part of SF but he had to try & be down. He found out the hard way though! If you are a supposed big time recording artist with loads of cash then ACT LIKE IT & get out of the Hood Mentality! I live here & I’m not trying to go into somebody’s hood if I’m not invited!     i could careless about 2chainz, other than that he is a human, so his personal offense is not my concern.

    I just find it interesting that bay area police, who have an extensive history with police brutality, like that killing of the unarmed man in the subway a couple years ago, goes around giving quotes comparing a VICTIM (not the suspect a VICTIM) as a cockroach. If he compared him to a sardine, that is very telling as well. I’ve never heard of a policeman making fun of the victim in something as serious as a shooting to media, and I’m from NYC.

    Get your facts straight. 2 chainz was robbed in front of the Green Door in SF on Howard street. THAT IS NOT THE HOOD. It’s half a block from Moscone where they held the Apple Keynote and across the street from the intercontinental hotel, the hotel where PRESIDENT OBAMA stays when he is in town. I repeat, that is not hunters point, it’s not east oakland, it ain’t the hood. This area is a tourist spot with million dollar condos around it.
