Congrats to Eric and Jeff for hitting 200 episodes of A Waste of Time with ItsTheReal! Over the last three years, the Rosenthal brothers have picked the brain (and ticked the funny bone) of countless people within the hip-hop community, from Cardi B and Combat Jack (RIP) to Mac Miller and our very own Miss Info. The podcast has even taken them from their Upper West Side apartment all the way to London.

For their 200th episode, though, Eric and Jeff turn the tables and tell their own story. Sitting down with Naomi Zeichner, former Editor-in-Chief of The FADER, the Rosenthals walk us through their journey from young rap nerds growing up in Westchester, New York to carving out their own lane as respected hip-hop sketch comedians (and, of course, podcast hosts).

In a hilarious (and long overdue!) episode of A Waste of Time with ItsTheReal, Eric and Jeff Rosenthal sit down with the easy rider himself, Action Bronson. Throughout the almost two-hour conversation, Bronsolino talks about growing up in Queens, dropping out of high school (and later culinary school), getting fired from his Mets kitchen job for fighting a co-worker, and how breaking his leg while working as a chef — and releasing his career-launching mixtape Dr. Lecter — changed his life.

Bam Bam also his talks about shaving his magnificent beard, his experience on Atlantic Records, his upcoming independent project White Bronco (which is also his DJ name), meeting Magic Johnson and Derek Jeter, and getting a handwritten letter from Robert De Niro (who he appears alongside in the upcoming Scorsese film The Irishman). Check out the full conversation below.

On the latest episode of A Waste of Time with ItsTheReal, Eric and Jeff Rosenthal sit down with one of the nicest (in more ways that one) rappers of all time, Phonte. In a hilarious, insightful and jewels-filled conversation, Tigallo discusses everything from his history with Little Brother and the tragic, life-changing events that shaped his new solo album No News Is Good News to the story behind his scrapped Take Care collaboration with Drake and his memories of working and performing with a young Kanye West.

“Me, Rakaa and Ev[idence] kinda had a running joke between us about doing shows with [Kanye] and it’s like, ‘When did you get the ‘Kanye, Kanye!’? If you were opening for Kanye, the goal was: can you get through your set without the crowd yelling, ‘Kanye! Kanye! Kanye!'” he remembers. “I think Little Brother might have been one of the few that actually made it through without getting it.”

On this week’s installment of A Waste of Time with ItsTheReal, Eric and Jeff Rosenthal sit down with two hip-hop legends who are still doing it big, Royce Da 5’9″ and DJ Premier. In the almost two-hour interview, Royce and Premo reflect on their respective careers, as well as their history together, while discussing their upcoming album PRhyme 2 (out March 16).

Needless to say, the conversation has a ton of great stories — from Premo meeting Redman and Craig Mack as roadies while on tour with EPMD to Big L taking JAY-Z under his wing to that time Royce, Eminem and Pharrell had a rap battle over the phone.

Sitting down with Jeff and Eric Rosenthal in their NYC apartment, the Jamla MC walks us through her journey from growing up in the small town (as in 1600 population small) of Snow Hill, NC, dropping out of NC State University with one credit left, and meeting and learning under her long-time mentor 9th Wonder. After rounding up the Roc-A-Fella Records crew in NYC last month, ItsTheReal hosted their second live podcast with legendary DJ, radio host and industry veteran, DJ Semtex, in London on September 6. In front of a sold-out crowd at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, Semtex spoke with Eric and Jeff Rosenthal about growing up in Manchester — a city better known for Happy Mondays than hip-hop — getting into DJing, the backstory behind losing his arm, and how a scrappy young Semtex moved down to London and made his mark in the industry.

With The Cool Kids’ new album Special Edition Grand Master Deluxe dropping this Friday, Chuck Inglish sits down with Jeff and Eric Rosenthal on the latest episode of A Waste of Time with ItsTheReal. Throughout the hour-and-a-half conversation, Chuck gets deep about both his personal and professional life, from growing up in Detroit and dropping out of college to his fear of fame and finding his identity as an artist.

In between amazing stories about hanging out with The Alchemist and Kid Cudi, deep conversations with Lil B and how Prodigy helped him through a breakup (blunts and Breaking Bad can mend any broken heart), Chuck also talks about why he and Sir Michael Rocks decided it was finally time to bring The Cool Kids back. “I was just looking at what was going on in the world…everybody’s going through this turmoil; what’s the one thing I know I can do: everybody wants to see The Cool Kids back together,” he says. “The world needs to hear something that did what it did the first time.”

ItsTheReal made their 130th podcast episode one to remember as they rounded up several members of Roc-A-Fella Records to celebrate the storied rap label. Recorded in front of a live audience at New York’s Highline Ballroom, Eric and Jeff Rosenthal sat down with key — and normally elusive — players including Just Blaze, Young Guru, Kareem “Biggs” Burke, Kyambo “Hip-Hop” Joshua, Lenny S., Chaka Pilgrim, Freeway, Young Chris, Neef Buck and even Jim Jones to reminisce over the Roc’s legacy.

It wouldn’t be A Waste of Time With ItsTheReal without some amazing stories, like JAY-Z battling LL Cool J and DMX, how Freeway’s “Flipside” was almost Hov and BeyoncĂ©’s first collaboration, and Dame’s plans to build a Roc-A-Fella theme park (seriously). And the award for best podcast episode of the year goes to…

Diddy stories are the stuff of legend, but Statik Selektah might just have the best one. During a recent appearance on A Waste of Time With ItsTheReal, the Showoff producer remembered his hilarious first interaction with Puff as a teenager running around New York. The fact that Nicole Kidman and Lenny Kravitz are mere supporting characters in this story tells you all you need to know.
