Grammy Award-winning producer Salaam Remi is set to drop a compilation album entitled Do It for the Culture 2, later this year. Known for his impressive résumé working with many greats in music over two decades, Remi drops off a new song with two of his closest collaborators. On “Find My Love,” Remi unearths vocals from the late Amy Winehouse, plus a fresh guest by Nas. Winehouse, who worked closely with Remi throughout her career, passed away in 2011. The vocals come from a session recorded with Salaam prior to her passing.

He may not look a day over 20 (dude’s actually 40 years old… let that sink in for a second), but Mark Ronson’s been around the block. During a recent interview on Sway In The Morning, the British DJ/producer shared a couple of great stories from his decorated career, including spinning Nikka Costa’s “Like a Feather” — the first record he ever produced — at the Roc La Familia release party back in 2000, and getting asked by Jay Z if he can jump on the remix (“it didn’t quite pan out,” unfortunately).

Mark also reflected on his close friend and collaborator Amy Winehouse, talking about her love for Nas and how she came up with the hook for her hit “Rehab,” before retelling his hilarious first encounter with Adele. “I was like, ‘who is this girl?'” he remembered. “This girl’s got a lot of attitude, she’s like super cool.”

Asif Kapaida’s documentary about Amy Winehouse titled AMY, hit select British theaters this past weekend and should see an official release nationwide this upcoming weekend. Ahead of its debut in the U.S., another preview from the film has surfaced. In this clip, we can see Amy hitting the studio with Mark Ronson to record “Back To Black,” what turns out to be the title track from her final album. As you can see, Ronson is marveled at her talent and says he caught her at the magic moment when she recorded this song.

We’ve been hearing about the AMY documentary for a long while now. But now that the project has acquired U.S. distributions rights, film company A24 has released the first official video teaser and poster. Director Asif Kapadia is eyeing a July release for the movie, which would coincide with the 4-year anniversary of the singer’s passing.

From what we’ve been reading and judging from the clip, this doc should give the world a very vivid look into the mind of the troubled musician.

“How big do you think you’re going to be?” the interviewer asks. “I don’t. I don’t think I’m gonna be at all famous,” Winehouse responds. “I don’t think I could handle. I would probably go mad, you know what I mean? I would go mad.”

Amy Winehouse statue

On Sunday (Sept 15), London revealed a life-size bronze statue of Amy Winehouse in Camden, North London. Unveiled on what would have been the late singer’s 31st birthday, her parents and hundred of fans gathered for the emotional event.

“They don’t put statues up for people who are with us anymore so it reinforces the fact that physically she’s gone but spiritually she’ll never leave us. I feel sad, very, very sad,” said her father. “We shouldn’t be here but we are, this is the reality and we’ve just got to make the most of it. So this statue is part of making the most of it. Getting people to come here, spend some time with Amy and put a flower in her hair and remember her in a very positive way. That for me is wonderful.”

Sculptor Scott Eaton said he hopes the monument will be looked at as “reflective and contemplative.”

Earlier this month, Jay-Z officially announced that he would be producing music for the upcoming The Great Gatsby soundtrack. Hov is working with composer Craig Armstrong and music supervisor Anton Monsted on the project. “As soon as I spoke with Baz (director) and Leonardo, I knew this was the right project,” said Jay-Z. “The Great Gatsby is that classic American story of one’s introduction to extravagance, decadence and illusion.” Now, it has been confirmed that Beyonce will be teaming up with Andre 3000 for a special Amy Winehouse cover to be included on the soundtrack. E! News confirmed that Hov’s wife and 3 stacks will reinterpret “Back to Black.” The Great Gatsby will premiere during the opening of the Cannes Film Festival on May 15.
