It’s been a tough old week for Mr. West, but here’s some good news for Ye stans. Fellow Chicago rapper and activist Rhymefest has announced he’s purchased Kanye West’s childhood home and plans to convert it into a “community arts incubator.”

The 2014 MTV Video Music Awards have officially come to an end, and this year there were a lot of memorable moments as usual. Some awesome and some cringe worthy, but we’ll likely be talking about both the highs and lows all day on Monday.

Live from The Forum in Inglewood, CA, things stared off with a “Bang Bang” as Nicki left a lot of jaws dropping with her “Anaconda” twerk session in between. We quickly hit some very below-sea-level moments when Jay Pharoah delivered some tired JAY Z and Kanye impersonations.

Overall, the good out weighed the bad, but we think Riff Raff and Katy Perry’s matching fits will haunt us for the rest of the night.

Diddy dives into the EDM world once again with an upcoming release with producer/DJ Guy Gerber. A project that was nearly 3 years in the making will finally be released this summer. Puffy and the Ibiza king originally hooked up while Gerber was rocking his residency at the party headquarters called The Wisdom of the Glove. According to Gerber, Puff wanted to call the project Ketamine. Talk about designer drugs.

camron first of the month

Just like our spending habits on the first and 15th, Cam’ron wastes no time in sharing another video off his brand new First of the Month Vol. 1 EP. Premiered by his new online home, The Red City, the video for “Put It In The Sky” takes us to an abandoned warehouse where Killa posts up with his old Dipset soldiers, including Jim Jones, Hell Rell and Un Kasa, who makes an appearance on the track.

Download First of the Month Vol. 1 EP here, and watch the first episode in Cam’s accompanying web series over here.

After announcing that he’ll be joining Drake on the European leg of his tour, The Weeknd hit Late Night With Jimmy Fallon to perform his current single “Pretty.” While remaining relatively still, the singer lazily crooned his way through the moody song as his band backed him. Kissland is available on iTunes now.

I remember talking to Mr. X and some of my coworkers about a “fake press release” stating that DMX would be performing at Alicia Keys and Miguel’s MSG show last night. Hahah, wow, we were wrong. During her set, the Darkman got the crowd turnt up with a wild performance of “Party Up.” The video quality isn’t up to par, but you can feel the energy from the audio. Stay tuned for a HD clip of the action.

It is where the U.S. and U.K. meet. The Brit Awards 2013 kicked off at London’s O2 Arena on Wednesday night. Artists such as Frank Ocean, Ne-Yo, Corinne Bailey Rae, and Iggy Azalea made their way to England to rub shoulders with Rita Ora, Jessie J, Emeli Sandé and more at the swanky event. One big name had ladies swooning, as the always dapper Justin Timberlake performed his new single “Mirrors” for the first-time ever. Off his much-anticipated The 20/20 Experience (Mar. 19), you can purchase the song on iTunes now.

ASAP Rocky just jumped on stage with Big Boi down at SOB’s and now he’s giving fans a treat by webcasting live via Ustream from the studio with producer Emile Haynie (who tracked Rocky’s upcoming duet with Florence Welch on “Like I’m Apart”)….The two of them are working on an upcoming Raekwon track. Yay!

UPDATE: While the webcast only lasted for 40 minutes, Team ASAP uploaded the full video…and unlike some rap livestreams that seem like an endless wormhole of circle jerking and nahmeans, Rocky speaks on fashion (hilariously)…”I don’t fxck with the Givenchy no more. The Givenchy is not cool, it’s not good in my book.
He reminisces on the making of the album…”It was more comfortable to record Long Live because it was hunger, not struggle…the hunger isn’t financial, it’s understanding. We’re starving for it.”
He and Emile give fans a taste of how their upcoming Raekwon collaboration will sound….
And at the end of the chat, Rocky plays a full track off his upcoming Long Live ASAP album: the “Pretty Flacco (Remix)” featuring Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka, and Pharrell.
How magnanimous!
