Posted by Mikey Fresh under good for humanity , life beyond rap , quotes[9] Comments
The Holiday season is all back giving back. Most of us here are blessed enough to have a roof over our heads (you’re checking the Internet) and enough to make ends meet. This year the YMCMB family held their 17th annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway in New Orleans. It was Weezy’s first year actually making back for the event and he seemed really taken back by giving back to his community. Baby and Slim were also present to speak on the occasion.
After the jump, you can information on how you can also join in and make some donations via clothing, food and aid. Rappers Fabolous, Mistah Fab, Ludacris and Lupe are just a few others doing their part in helping those in need.
Fab, Trey Songz and Hot97 have also organized a coat drive with Dr. Jays in the the New York City area. Jackets and coats can be donated at any Dr. Jays location. More information is available at - 3Kings Coat Drive information.
If you’re located outside of the NYC/NJ area and would like to donate: Please send in your coats & winter gear to

Keshia Knight Pulliam and Ludacris joined forces with their non-profit organizations Kamp Kizzy and The Ludacris Foundation to exceed their initial goal of 250 families to feed 500 families for the Thanksgiving holiday. For the past two weeks bins were placed throughout Atlanta at Straits Restaurant, Wet Willies and Beya Salon Studios for the community to donate canned goods and non-perishable items for the food drive. Each family received gift baskets with canned vegetables, stuffing, mashed potatoes as well as fresh sweet potatoes, collard greens and turkeys. This is a beautiful thing. I remember having Thanksgiving dinner with the Bea Gaddy Foundation here in Baltimore when I was coming up and just the joy of being able to have something and the feeling of normalcy. That’s why every year I try to go back and volunteer.
Props to these artists for taking the time out to give back to their people. And respect to Wayne for being able to take it all in.

I PREFER TO DONATE A COAT DIRECTLY TO A PERSON ON THE STREET THAN PUT IT IN A BOX OR ONE OF THOSE IRON DROP BOXES THEY HAVE ALL OVER THE NEIGHBORHOOD. I dont want o give a used jacket on camera SHIT I understand if it was 1000 coats purchased by you out of your own pocket now thats giving back and camera worthy. Not a bunch of frozen turkeys that you buy by ton which is probably $5 to $10 a bird… The way these rappers talk that they paid like then open a school fund it yourself. Not to many of these rappers got money like that. I bet not even babe would open a new school funded by him for over 500 to 1000 students/faculty etc… Now thats giving back to the cummunity. Wanting them to succeed in life. Im not impressed…When yall open a school I be impress till then keep your lil gimmicks off the tube. WE DONT BELIEVE YOU/YOU NEED MO PEOPLE.

Hip Hop School Of Arts. Children with Music talent From all over the world can apply as long your GPA is 3.75 and up you can apply. Focusing on music of all genres etc. Jigga, Puffy, Eminem, 50 cent, Babe, Weezy they can get together as a whole and open sucha school. And I aint talking about an all black school I’m talking asians, whites, blacks, hispanics with an equal share of races in this school including faculty the best of the best. I’m just glad Weezy took off the ice before he handed the turkeys out! They did a pre interview with him & Birdman before the handout when they were on the bus! And I promise you just 1 of them niggas watches cost more than this entire give back! Glad someone caught on to that & told him to take that shit off before he flashed it in the face of all them strugglin azz people! I mean it’s nice that they giving back but like others have said we know it’s a tax write off @ the end of the day (year)! But still, that’s wassup I guess!

This is just ignorant. You flood the airwaves (modern day gas chambers) with materialistic poison and then you want to have photo-ops of you handing out food to people that are starving for change. If any of these artists are concerned about the hood they should stop walking in ignorance and try to make a difference by personifying some substance in their “swag” music. This sickens me!!!
