Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def) is set to play a concert in Africa this Friday (Jan. 17) that will not only be available to live stream, but will include performances of brand new music. The Brooklyn MC made the announcement in a video for HYPETRAK, which promises “3 new Yasiin Bey exclusives live from Africa.” The Brooklyn lyricist also raps an a capella verse on the beach in the clip. The performance, which he calls “Time Is Always Now,” comes via Bey’s newly-formed arts collective, A COUNTRY CALLED EARTH, and will commemorate the birthday of the legendary Muhammad Ali, who turns 72 this Friday.
While the location won’t be disclosed until after the performance, Yasiin Bey’s set will live stream from 5:30p.m. (EST). Tune in.
