Well, probably no one, but friend Jay Electronica is campaigning for a greater appreciation of the vast contributions MJ has made to our lives with his.

When he first sent this over, I thought Swagger Jackson was Action’s hep nephew from Harlem. But if you read the lyrics, it far less macho than the name suggests.

Jay Electronica “Swagger Jackson’s Revenge”

I’m the first to admit that Michael Jackson was a huge force for young Info. One of my happiest memories is of an MJ-themed birthday party and the half a dozen hubcap-sized pins that I got that day, with various MJ photos on them. Some with his pet monkey, some with his curl.
But I’m not so deluded that I cant see that the boy with Bubbles was a boy in a bubble and it wasn’t a very sterile environment. His childhood seems like it was all father issues, family dysfunction, mental abuse, and unhealthy excess.
So does that make grown Michael any more acceptable?

Doesn’t feel like it. And all the Akon-Rodney Jerkins-Neyo in the world may not help. Another big-time producer/artist has recently been enlisted (by who knows, some investor in Bahrain?) to remake Michael for the 80th time. But all Jay probably really wants is that old thing back. Sorry, Jay, that ship has sailed, but even MJ’s recent Zorro masks can’t ruin the memories and the classic music….we’ll always have Liberian Girl.

(clearly its late and I need to sleep, lol)
