Yikes! So this was the scene outside of Marcy Projects when Jay-Z brought Oprah to Bed-Stuy. I love the fact that while you hear residents of the neighborhood cheering and screaming when Big O and Big Hov walk by with their security team and camera crew….the guys who took the video (DHENYC) were like Statler and Waldorf from the Muppet Show, grumbling about “this is my block.” LOL.
The “casual” visit to Jay-Z’s grandmother’s stoop was actually for an upcoming interview with Jay-Z in O Magazine, which should be very interesting. But um….Oprah’s fawning and gushing phone call to her bestie Gayle King’s radio show the next day…was odd to say the least. (shades of Weezy/Ms.Katie, lol)

she doesn’t have to give hip hop her blessings. it’s just that what she is exposed to is what she thinks the whole game is, and someone like oprah who looks at both good and bad should know better. she knows that it’s not all one sided. there are lots of great people in hip hop from all around the world making real positive conscious music and it’s not all about rapping about girls cars or violence or whatever she thinks this whole genre is. she gets it, but she doesn’t get it in real actuality at all. she has a narrow view and isn’t willing to expand it and also she should know better because i’ve seen a lot of controversial things on her show, but if you a rapper ixnay the thought of ever making it on oprahs show because her word is law. anyways lol having kanye west is only one thing. it really don’t mean nothing in the grand scale of things because her view point remains concrete. i never thought she’d be a concrete herder but i really shouldn’t be surprised considering the love hate relationship i have with the whole oprahness of oprah. i guess though that ultimately it has to be about her audience and i guess her audience doesn’t give a shit about this.

oh and about the clip when they talking about her school and the kids there. i love that she built that school. more people need to be building schools in africa and helping out some kids. the recession is hitting them real hard. my cousin emailed me a couple weeks back and told me to get him an ipod. and i was like please who you. i mean we over here sturggling like how you all struggling and you want me to get you a mother f’n ipod. what makes you think i know what that is (i do know what it is) and what makes you think i will spend $99 on an ipod and send it to you when i don’t even have one and i can barely pay for school. africans. gotta love them but some of their priorities are so whack you wouldn’t even know where to begin.

i hope he read it before that whole oprah a new earth day by day group sessions. my bx cousin bought that and an alicia keys book for me and i got through 27 pages in a new earth…which i haven’t read since and the alicia book i read every day and sleep with it. i love her book. i wish i could finish a new earth though cause i think i would learn a lot from it…but then again i could just read the bible and learn just as much.
