My old Morning Show cohort (yeesh) Joey Buddens was pleased as punch the other day because he got the release he wanted from his Def Jam contract. I don’t know all the label politics but obviously 1 album in 5 years was crazy. Ss it seemed like a foregone conclusion that he wanted off the label. But according to Joe, he was waiting it out so that he could leave without having to pay anybody anything. Now he’s debt-free (although, knowing Joe, that’s not including whatever exorbitant underground gambling bet he has to close out) and taking meetings with potential new labels. One meeting, in particular, could be especially productive…the boss is a something of a maverick himself, lol.
In the meantime, Mouse has also gotten 25,000 pre-orders for his Mood Muzik 3 mixtape, which drops in December so that’s not too shabby either, all things considered (like, no lear jet tours, no budweiser tie-ins, lol) : )
But, no Joe, you won’t have a chance to beat me at the upcoming “Deal Me In” Celebrity Spades Tournament. Because even though you’re the reigning champ, I was the first-ever champ (along with my partner Kim O.), and unlike some folks (namely athletes from Chicago and certain rappers that I loved in their prime), I subscribe to “go out on top.”

Biggups to Joe. MM3 is one of my 7 reasons to love 2007. Hpe he gets the situation he deserves.
Shame on you tho Info. The MJ jab is uncalled for, and as for the other guy, that book ain’t quite finished yet.
Speakin of which, you need to bless us wit a full version of Dead Presidents 3. I know you got it up at the station, and if you don’t you know who does.

i got a bootleg of his album and i liked it.but the more i read about him in xxl i realized dude is mentally ill.along with him smoking dust and all the therapy he goes through,i decided to not fuck with him.it distracted me from the music and made me not respect him or his craft.i guess this makes me closed minded person but hey we all got our own problems.
with that being said it dont matter to me where he goes from here.im not checking for him anymore.

I must say its a shame that the music industry has come to this… Joe buddens was/is a good rapper. LL was right something is going on with def jam that we don’t know about(well I do, they aren’t doing the profits that they are suppose to do so the shareholders are geting upset). When you have a lot of acts not geting the push they deserve, why cuz they don’t have a hit like “crank that soulja boy” its a shame. There are other artist that aren’t geting any push (Sam Scarfo, True Life) pretty soon all the majors will be done it will just be independents or mixtapes being dropped. I mean look at it people are giving mixtapes release dates WOW! it sounds like its time to take it back to the 50cent mixtapes days (can’t you tell the excitment in my voice) Mark my words DEF JAM WILL FALL IN 3 TO 5 YEARS!

@lee….fall? really? nah, I doubt that.Artists are commodities for labels. They’ll just get new commodities. Right or wrong, its just reality.

@info you are right rappers are like commodities but just like how the US dollar was almost 1 to 1 with the Euro pound its now 2 to 1 Pound to Dollar. To all those that don’t understand what that means I am simply stating that of course they always have artist but will the artist get the budget that they will need for Marketing, Production,Studio Time ect. Nope. Info I have a question for you matter fact this is a question for anyone that can see whats going on. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT ARTIST THAT ARE PUTTING COMPANIES PRODUCTS IN THEIR RHYMES? DO YOU THINK ARTIST ARE GETTING PAID TO MENTION A CLOTHING LINE OR CAR COMPANY IN THEIR RYHMES? I read an artical that showed all the things that Jay-Z mentioned in his ryhmes over the years and the list was long. Is this where hip hop is going??

no one cares about joe budden. Game dissed him. the highlight of joe’s career was being featured on a marques houston track, hahaha. budden can’t sell anything outside his own area code.

Such a good look for Joey. Thank god he got released, it was such a crying shame that an incredible rapper like joey was getting held back for so long. i’ve been following joey from way back in the day, and just like he said on his first album “by the time i’m on my fifth album you should understand the first one.” It’s mad true cause his lyrics is genius. If yall havent already or are in doubt or skeptical about joey don’t be. Jumpoff Joe Budden is a lyrical beast and will eat 95% of rappers today. Eagerly anticipating MM3 for over 2 years thank god its finally coming!!

25,000 pre-orders that’s what it is, and it’s no surprise. Big up to one of my favorite MCs of all time and a hard representer for Jersey.
