Rap vs. NBA Beef Pt. 2: Wale Confronts Toronto Raptors Announcer After Diss

Just days after Lil Wayne rallied a “f*ck the NBA” chant (complete with some allegations about Chris Bosh’s wife), this emerging war of words between rap and the NBA bled over into Washington D.C. last night, where Wale took exception to a few cheeky comments made by Raptors TV announcer Matt Devlin.
Sitting courtside for the Raptors-Wizards game, the MMG rapper was apparently talking trash to the visiting team’s new forward, Rudy Gay. Picking up on the exchange, Devlin — out of comical slander or pure ignorance — introduced the MC to the viewers at home as “local rapper Wall-Aye” and asked if anyone on Twitter had “ever heard of Wall-Aye.” Adding insult to injury, Devlin then remarked, “He’s not Drake, that’s for sure.” (Ether!)
Overhearing Devlin’s comments, Wale tweeted to him directly “watch ur mouth” and shortly after approached the announcers’ table and interrupted the commentary. Hey, at least he didn’t get called will.i.am.
Check out the footage and tweets below…

If you go to the away game, you’ll get disrespected. That’s how it always is, rappers aren’t above that. Him, Wayne and the MMGYMCMB coalition are such groupies for ball players.

Lol, But hes at a home game though. Were they positioned behind Wale’s seat? And if they dont now him then how do they know his name? Interesting..funny as hell “he aint no Drake” thats what did it. But, the commentator was right tho..thats why it hurt so much.

Wale would confront anyone. Difference is he’s just arguing, nothing wrong with that.

It is a pretty stupid move from him to interrupt in a live broadcasting. I mean imagine the broadcaster would have felt intimidated in any way? The security would have bombed on wale. Just enjoy the floor seats while you in top. Because Its not going to stay that way for ever. Just enjoy the ride because an incident like that can hurt u business wise.

The situation that took place last night was really blow out of proportion – Matt Devlin is a Middle Aged dude – that in all honesty (I Think) did not know who Wale was!
Dear Wale,
Not everyone is gonna know you – So suck it up and keep doing what you doing man!

I wish they would have had security put him in his place…just to make an example out of him…
And as far as wayne…I wish they would ban him…just to show him how stupid and attention seeking he is being.

Roscoe Dash claimed to write the hook of a song. He didn’t write his lyrics.
He should have played the situation a little cooler though

It Wasnt But Then It Was. The Announcer Should Keep His Name Out His Mouth. Wale Wasnt Speaking On Him, But He Spoke On Wale Nd Basically Downed His Name, So Like A Real Man Would Do, He Comfronted Him

Commentators always talk about people in attendance and they know Drake because of his Toronto connection, him attending games and involvement with Ross at the dunk off. Wale caught feelings because someone didn’t know who he was and therefore was referring to the man how he believed it was pronounced. He had no clue whether Drake was better or not, he was just riding with the hometown guy.
Artist need to stop feeling themselves so much and realize in the grand scheme of things, they aren’t that significant to a vast majority of people. For example, if you sell 10 million units off 1 album (which 99.9% won’t) in a country of 300 million, 70% of people don’t care a bit about ya!
