Wale: new video “Pat Your Weave” w/ UCB, and Rap-Up interview
Posted by Miss Info under hmmm....? , new music , quotes , videos[26] Comments
Wale’s album drops tomorrow, and in this interview with Rap-Up Magazine, he shares “the advice he got from his Roc Nation boss Jay-Z, receiving Rihanna’s blessing to sample her song, getting the cold shoulder from Kanye West (“I don’t wait for handouts”)” and more. Wale will also be with my girl Angie today, and partying tonite with NYC.
After the jump, watch the video that Rik Cordero/Three21Media did with Wale and UCB called “Pat Your Weaves”…

I feel like supporting anything called “Pat your weave” will automatically get my Hip Hop card revoked. :p

As a Nigerian, I am inclined to support Wale. He isn’t my favorite rapper but I would try to squeeze out 10 dollars to buy his album.

Wale’s album is really good. Teh blogs were saying it sounds like he jacked Kanye’s sound but thats not true at all. I think the album is more reminiscent of Nas’ Illmatic. I was surprised by some of what I heard, especially when he talks about the color issues facing black people; and his experience as an immigrant. Your $10.00 will be well spent if you get it.

Reminiscent of Illmatic? Do you realize what you’re saying? That’s like comparing a slim jim to a filet mignon. Don’t do that.

I meant reminiscent in the sense of its honesty and production not necessarily its content.
I think that in time, Wale’s debut album will draw the same accolades as Nas’ debut because its that good.
Slim Jims are some peoples filet mignon.

Hmm..Yeezy following in his big brother footsteps and going after the “hot” artists? hmmm..
I was iffy about him but I was fortunate to hear a snippet of his album; at first I didnt like ‘90210′ until I asked to hear it again a few more times and now I like it, he’s spitting realness on that song.
Another reason why I like it is because it doesnt sound like the other rap albums out and he’s not wack.
Thanks to the partnership he has with Zune , I will be copping this album 2morro.
Much success Wale!

If I don’t like his music, then I don’t like it. I don’t have to like it cause he from the area. I don’t like go go like that either, so is that hatin. If you like his shit, go buy it. And DC ain’t known for hatin, they known for being honest, and non-trendy.

Thank goodness he didn’t take Hov’s advice and fuck with the hook. That DMV sound is what really makes the song and in turn it’s a big look for Go-Go.

Rik, thanks for the entertainment. You are the big joke in my camp. The pointless light flair in this video had us rolling on the floor. The flairs has no place in this video, it doesnt move the visuals forward or anything. It was even more wack in the kickdrum video. I would love hear the reason why flairs used at all. My god son you are beyond wack, hands down. We love the entertainment but between the stomach hurting laughter we are starting to feel sad for you. You are that car wreck we can turn away from.
My friends over at Antville.com really need this popeye chicken video, so dont make us wait too long now. But until they get their hands on that one they are going to love this one.

I’m Nigerian, and Wale is still wack trash.
and to put Wale and Illmatic in the same sentence is ludicrous. To quote Jay-Z: “Don’t mention my name and lames in the same sentence”
“I think that in time, Wale’s debut album will draw the same accolades as Nas’ debut because its that good.” – Boudicon, are you smoking rocks? you do realize that Illmatic gets accolades because it’s actually an incredible and groundbreaking album, not just that it’s ‘old’? Not everything ages well, and I doubt “Pat Your Weave” will be looked back on as lyrical and production genius. You’ll have to sit and take an L on this one, man.
For the record, I like the drums on this “Pat Your Weave” song. It gives the track a good bounce. The song is OK for a club environment.
