from sohh…
“A noose was found hanging around the neck of the late legendary rapper Tupac’s bronze statue in Atlanta this weekend. It was one in a series of attacks on the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts in recent days, according to the center’s website.
Vandals defaced the building and left a noose around the statue’s neck, ironically in the center’s Peace Garden on Saturday (October 20). Early Monday morning (October 22) the statue was further damaged and plastered with handbills of rants referencing 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina. Some bills also had vague threats against record companies and rappers.
A male has been arrested in connection with the break-in, and is currently being held in custody. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this as a hate crime.”
So obvious that this and all the other nooses spotted around NYC are one some copycat look-at-me-I’m-pathetic ish. But its working.
Also wack, spotted at SandraRose’s blog…
Now, according to some eagle-eyed readers, the photos with the money were already posted on this kid’s myspace, but not the other ones with the Jena-6 tees and new bling. Kinda reminds me of the post-Katrina days when FEMA was handing out debit cards but without any regulation, so some people reported used the money at jewelry stores and even stripclubs. Sigh. But they’re young and its more a reflection of how they were used by these “community leaders” as a lightning rods and then dropped like hot potatoes afterwards.

Wow. I mean I am really pissed and honestly speechless. As a 23 year old black man who has had to go through the legal system before I am like WTF were these kids thinking? I mean do none of these niggers (yeah I said it!) watch the Boondocks!! They are playing into types of stereos…or stereotypes for the niggers. My bad but this is how I feel. Fucking shocked and appalled.
My 81 year old grandfather (and my uncles too)didn’t serve proudly in the Air Force as one of the original Tuskegee Airman, get shot at by Germans, eat in the back of the mess halls, in the back of resteraunts, drive through Alabama in full gear to be told “Boy Keep driving you Aint getting No Food Here”!! Naw it aint going down like that. Fuck Al Sharpton. Jesse aight but his mission is clouded now. Fuck all these rich ass rappers who didnt do shit during the whole situation. Shout out Bun B and Mos Def!! And most of all fuck these ignorant ass niggers who didnt take their experience and learn shit from it. Niggerdom at its finest. This is why my grandfather hates hip-hop….because this is how they connect the dots….chains….bling….it all equals to supreme niggerdom…
Im done.

Of course the Jenna 6 got used Miss Info that’s what Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson do. Just like they stand next to hip-hop when it’s convenient for them, then when they get called out on there hypocrisy because of the whole Don Imus thing the say hip-hop is the enemy now. They are snakes in the grass that have been taking advantage of the black community for years.
Next time you see Al Sharpton ask him this if the “N” word is so bad and he’s working hard to get rid of it then why did he show up to the “American Gangster” premier. I haven’t seen the movie yet but I would assume because of the subject matter that the word “Nigga” gets thrown around a lot. Why is it OK for the “N” word to get used in one form of art like a movie and not OK in another form of art like a song?

I aint even mad at that, if 2 Pac was alive he would have gone down there with the press took the noose of the statue, took off his top wear the noose around his kneck and do “Hit em Up prt 2″ And made hiphop fans turn nooses into fashion statements.
They can deface statue’s hang nooses allover the place bu they could never kill the one thing that keeps us alive which is our spirit.
R.I.P 2 Pac you know we hit em up!

@ Kind Jaffee, Preach. Kids don’t know what time it is. Did anyone else peep 50’s commentary on Nas’s album title. ” That’s Stupid” “Why would you name your album that” Offensive or not, it’s sparking debate and much needed conversations. Where as an album title like “The Massacre” or “Get Rich or Die Tryin” is self explanitory. That’s the problem with these kids. They don’t think and that’s the lifestyle that they subscribe to. Bling, Bling, bitches, and hoes, murder and money. They see there rappers committing crime after crime on T.V. and they think shit is gravy. Like it’s one continuous video game. It’s sad, it’s really fuckin sad. They embaress me and they embarress themselves.

@miss info /fresh /side show raheem
These kids are revolutionaries , they had the guts to challenge an unfair system. They stood up for what they believe in … They are products of a hip hop lifestyle as fresh so eloquently said above ..
However I am not embarrassed by them !!!!They are young , and what they accomplished is revolutionary .. Don’t forget that !!!! They are kids , and doing what kids do .. If we do not like how are young behave , blame it on the rap physcophants that promote these lifestyles in our society .. They have a responsibility to the community that supports them .
as far as al sharpton and jesse goes , not that i support their agendas.. But i have not seen anyone from the hip hop community debate them , or go into politics …
Miss info , i don’t know how u feel about this , but why not organize a debate between al , jessie and any poltical minded rappers , or media people who have a political agenda… please though , no fools , pick people with some sense .
@ dope boy ,
but why do u call yourself dope boy , what does that moniker mean ?

@chantai
Al Sharpton did take part in that BET panel discussion with Nelly and some other rappers about the lyrics in hip-hop. But my point is no one should be debating him at all I don’t believe for one min that he believes what he says he just a guy that seeks the spot light and he shouldn’t be taken seriously by whites or blacks.
