Download: Nas Demo Tape
Aqua says: “Nas’ demo from ‘91. I repeat, Nasty Nas’ demo from ‘91! The songs are raw, but still of a higher caliber than most of the drivel you’ll find on shelves iTunes and bootleg sites today.”

Did anyone catch how he mentioned drinking Cristal on the “Understanding” Track… wayyyyy before Jay-Z “made it cool.”
Reason I say this is because talking heads always say how nobody was talking about Cristal until Jay-Z did it.

It’s one thing to mention it….it’s another to make it popular. You just made Jay-Z’s point clear – “…You made it a hot line / I made it a hot song…”!!!

True, but that was about Dead Presidents. Jay can’t claim Cristal… besides he is off that wagon now.

Jay could not fuck with Nas on his best day! What point did Jay make clear…that his camel looking ass can be used to make shit hot in the hood and for his ghetto ass stans to go to the club and buy Cristal that they can’t afford! Then when the owners of Cristal see that his camel looking ass is making their value go down…they diss the shit out of him publicly and basically tell Jay to stop promoting their liquor…they don’t need him anymore…he made them enough money in the hood! What does Jay make hot besides promoting liquor for you simple stans to glorify! Jay is a puppet…who the marketing machine knows his fans will follow to hell and back! So why not use the camel to promote their product until they don’t need him to do so anymore! So what’s so hot about that?

Who really cares about which rapper said Cristal first? Neither one of them could afford it when they were saying it…

Man, this made me even more of a Nas-stan than I already am. He has that same quality The D.O.C. had on No One Can Do It Better, in that you could play it today and it would still sound as good or even better than almost everything out right now.

I downloaded this yesterday and it’s fire! Nas was one of the reasons I got into journalism; his music was the soundtrack to my life. When Aqua first twitted about it I was skeptical but thot I should try a listen. This demo says it all; content and character.
