Elliott at RapRadar sent over their exclusive find…knowing that this is my kind o’ ish! Vintage footage from back in 1981 when the venerable 20/20 did a package on hip hop music.

Great Video. Not to be cynical, how does blondie get more airtime then Curtis Blow? and when “they” traced the music back to the early days of Jazz/be-bop; Does that mean are next music genre is gonna be a hybrid between autotune, weezy and James Brown?

Thanks Info. That was just what i needed to see today.
Does anyone else remember when Kurtis Blow hosted Saturday morning cartoons on ABC for a while? I wasn’t into cartoons so much but I would tune in just to watch the Kurtis Blow segments and hear him tell a story with music and rhymes in syncopation.

Epic throwback. Is it just me, or did anyone feel like the first minute or two was the beginning of a Chappelle skit??

Info, this was awesome! @ pro-rican: Don’t hate on Blondie, this was 1981 and uptown was meeting downtown thanks to Fab 5, LEE, and Basquiat. Blow might have sold over a half a mil with his but I’m sure Blondie had better marketing as well as higher numbers…It was because partly because of her band and the Ahearns to spread hip around the world.. That segment was too short anyway…

Hope these wannabie rappers look at this type of stuff. Maybe they will have more respect for the music and stop release b.s. to the people
