I applaud Jay for breaking the ice with Oprah and Hip-Hop, now maybe some more intelligent hip-hop artist can get some shine on her show. Now let the Jay-Z Haters begin!

like Common said “If I don’t like it, I DON’T LIKE IT, doesn’t mean I’m hating”
I’m glad someone shined the light on how Jay is not the same dude. I will like to quote Jay on the Hell Yeah (remix), from the Dead Prez RBG album:
As long as there’s – drugs to be sold
I ain’t waiting for the system to plug up these holes
I ain’t slipping through the cracks
So I’m at Portland, Oregon tryin to slip you these raps
The first black in the suburbs
You’d think I had extasy, percocet, and plus syrup
The way the cops converged, they fucked up my swerve
The first young buck that I served
I thought back to the block
I never seen a cop when I was out there
They never came out there
And out there, I was slinging crack to live
I’m only slinging raps to your kids
I’m only trying to show you how black niggaz live
But you don’t want your little ones acting like this
Lil Amy told Becky, Becky told Jenny
And now they all know the skinny
Lil Joey got his durag on
Driving down the street blasting Tupac’s song (Thug Life baby!)
But Billy like Sue, got his blue rag on
Now before you know it, you backing em
Now the police, got me in the middle of the street
Trying to beat me blue, black and orange
I’m like hold up, who you smacking on?
I’m only trying to eat what you snacking on

This friendship scares me, it just doesnt seem right. Anyway money talks in this world and maybe Jay Z has just gotten to the level where him being a rapper is cool with Oprah.

@ “now maybe some more intelligent hip-hop artist can get some shine on her show”
Why are only “intelligent” hip-hop artist allowed on her show?
She doesnt only allow “intelligent” rock stars, actresses, actors on her show.
Why do you have to be “allegedly” (lol) an intellegent hip hop artist to be on her show?
Superhead can come. Whitney came, even during the crack days. Bobby Brown came. Various rock stars have came. Lindsey Lohan & others came during their wild days.
Why is it that the only rapper allowed on her show is the one dating the biggest pop diva in the planet? (who she adores.) Please dont tell me your naive enough to believe he’s there on account of his own success?
I said this before, Ill say it again.
Jay-z is very talented and he USED to make great music. But it takes more than that to STAY relevant in this business.
If Jayz was NOT Beyonce’s boyfriend/husband throughout this entire period of time he would not be relevant. PERIOD!
(Now…let the “MzBrittanyLUV” haters began.)

“…more intelligent hip-hop”? — I don’t think so. This is a friendship based on money. Harpo Productions is not seeing O sharing the stage with any rapper unless its a good look. Jay is a better look for their fan base than say, 50 or someone with that type of financial stature.
Puffy is probably the only other artist that could share a stage with O.

two rich people making a friendship because it looks cool…
wasn’t she hating on luda?? Ludacris is one of the most talented rappers in the game.
why is she cool with jay, but not with an artist like ludacris?????? not a big fan of oprah.

Honestly the only rapper in the game that is actually real and supports hiphop, what it means, and the African American race and minorities is Nas and she doesnt have him on. Their is no intellect in jay’s album like lets say a Nas, just a bunch of commercial shit that appeals more to the “white” listener.
How long till Jay gets a little corner in her show and is call Dr. Carter w/o a degree and becomes her full blown out son ??? Jay Z aka the Black Dr. Phil
Muhammad Ali were still able to speak and he would call Jay and uncle Tom and thats G.O.D.

I’m actually suprised (maybe I shouldn’t be, I don’t know) at some of the retarded comments. As datboy posted earlier: “Hating Jay-Z = Fail”. Seriously. To hate people simply because they’re embraced by others not like you and are succesful is just retarded.
“..Jay soften up his persona & music 4 Whitey..” Huh? Did you stop to think that maybe him being married, 40years old, and a bazillionaire might be the reason some things change? You can’t keep spitting the same simple minded shit to impress people that don’t understand shit.
I don’t even wanna go any deeper. Rap “fans” (aka Republicans) sadden me. Please grow up and gain some understanding about life and music. Shouts to Jay (my fellow brooklynite) and Oprah; two successful black people who made it despite their circumstances. I don’t agree with or like everything they say or do, but to hate on them, again, is just retarded.

See thats were you are wrong!! you dont have to be “in the same damn corner drinking and smoking they life away.” but being one of the few black/ minorities to make it big and be able to have a voice i just think he has taken the wrong route. The best example was Muhammahed Ali. Look at Ice Cube one of the most influencial rappers of his time and baddest mother fuckers! The dude making his money with the white folks but he hasnt soldout and has also been a voice for his people.
I can’t wait for Kanye to come out and say:
“Jay-z and Oprah hate black people”

EXACTLY!
It’s not about being stagnant/hugging the block. It’s about remembering where you came from and who didn’t have your back when you was trying to save your self.
Everyone is quick to forget Oprah DOESN’T LIKE HIPHOP nor does she support it.
The only reason she is conversing with Hov is because Obama and Beyonce co-sign him. Before The Inaugural Ball when did Oprah invite Jay to her show?
Oprah didn’t want Ice Cube on her show when she did a segment about the show he produced/created “Black & White”. Oprah had no problem inviting the cast but she didn’t invite Ice Cube.
Sure I respect her hustle and how she overcame adversity but seriously STOP acting like Oprah is Harriet Tubman, Angela Davis or Assatta Shakur.
