The latest artist to be featured on VH1′s Behind The Music series was one of the pioneers of west coast gangster rap music, Ice Cube. In the piece that aired last night we learn how Ice Cube first got introduced to rap, meeting Eazy-E and Dr. Dre, the fallout of N.W.A. and his last conversation with Eazy-E before he passed. We also get a look into Cube’s later years transitioning into acting and some of the scrutiny he received early in his career plus a look at the family man.
After the jump catch Ice Cube and WC as they perform “Natural Born Killaz” at Le Bataclan in Paris, France…..

In regards to Hip Hop I’m open to new music and when quality is presented I can appreciate it but truth be told my musical taste is locked in. My memories and loyalties are pretty set to the genre that shaped me. So at this point in my life, I truly love this type of program and dont know why we dont get more of this. We could EASILY have a Hip Hop TV channel with this type of programming.
It’s great getting the stories and influences to the people that had me enjoying life as a kid. These are the personal tales that really validate to me why I connected with these artists.
I’d love to see programs like this not just on the artists but since everyone is a social personality now lets see other aspects of the game. DJs, Radio Hosts, Managers, etc….
