So it looks like it wasnt a planned stunt…..in an earlier post, I posted the video clips of Akon performing up in Fishkill, NY this past Sunday (so Akon did this show and then performed that same night at our Summerjam). In the clips, an audience member tosses something onstage (witnesses are saying it may have been part of a pretzel). Then Akon points out the offender and has security bring him up on stage….And this is what happens next….

Well… police up in Fishkill are now investigating this incident and looking to speak to both the victim and Akon. Whats crazy is that there were 2 police officers standing nearby during the whole thing and they did nothing to intervene or even check on the kid after he fell to the ground. Great job, guys. I gotta say, having been to many many shows, I cant think of anything more ignorant (and dangerous) than throwing something at the rapper onstage. Its happened to Jim Jones, its happened 50 Cent, EPMD….all with varying degrees of bad to violent results. (show cancellation to all-out riot) BUT…..that does not warrant for the guy to be dragged onstage, lifted up and frisbee-tossed offstage onto the ground. Obviously the guy didnt break his neck because the EMTs would have been called etc. But he could have. And Akon seems smart enough to know that he has worked too hard to literally throw it all away for a pretzel. Security should have just grabbed the guy and tossed him out of the concert.

Oh, one other thing…this was the priceless quote of the day. From Jason Finkelberg, the general manager of WSPK, the radio station sponsor of Akon’s concert:

“I don’t think Akon intended malice on this guy. I think it was in the spirit of the show,” he says. “I would have preferred he wouldn’t have done that.”
