Update: MTV News reports that T.I. will do at least 10 months in jail

Wow…this is no small gaffe on the part of the Associated Press. They reported that T.I. would have 305 days of house arrest credited to his prison term, so in effect, T.I. was looking at just 2 months in prison, instead of 1 year and 1 day.
Obviously, that sounded like a dream come true for someone convicted of having so many firearms (and with a prior record). And there were a lot of virulent responses from youse guys on the prior post.
But MTV News’ Gil Kaufman has cleared up the misunderstanding….The house arrest credit only applies to T.I.’s future house arrest requirement after he is released from Arkansas’ Forrest City Club Fed.
So even with good behavior, T.I. is only eligible for 55 days reduction from his sentence. He will most likely do at least 10+ months in prison.
Good catch, Gil!
MTV News explains:
“When The Associated Press reported on Sunday that T.I. — due to report to the Forrest City low-security federal prison in Little Rock, Arkansas, on May 26 — had been given credit for 305 days of home detention, “so his stay at Forrest City prison will likely be only two months,” the news agency may have misread the sentencing report. The story has since spread on the Internet, but according to Charysse Alexander, a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia, it is not accurate.
According to Alexander, the rapper was indeed given credit for the 305 days of home confinement he served while awaiting trial in the case, but that has nothing to do with his prison sentence…..
more after the jump…
Alexander explained that, at best, according to federal sentencing guidelines, anyone who serves more than one year in prison is eligible for a 15 percent “good time” credit, which in Tip’s case could shave almost 55 days off his sentence.
The confusion may have stemmed from mixing the credit for home confinement with the prison sentence, which are separate terms, Alexander said. Once T.I. completes the prison term, he will still have to serve out the remainder of his home confinement, she said, which will amount to about two months…”

he’ll do 6 – 7 months. the day added on to the year is always there to allow the person to get out after 6 – 7 months on good behavior. lawyers don’t acknowledge it because they don’t want it to look like their client is getting off easy. 10 months won’t happen

aggh! I can’t deal with all this math!
Why isn’t 12 months and a day minus 55 days not 10 months?

Does this really matter INFO? I mean really who cares about how much time he got? TIP goes hard regardless, why is that you along with all the other news blogs/sources feel that its more important to report on his jail time rather than report on them hits that he continues to make?
WTF is wrong with hip-hop? This kind of shit is what’s wrong!!!!!!

1st & Foremost Clifford Harris is a con artist & world class horrible person, who talks like a 70 yr old slave.
That being said: Why is it always rappers. Why never pop/rock artists. Why cant it be Katy Perry caught w/ a half a brick of yayo in her trunk? Why cant it be Justin Timberlake getting into a fight at the Waffle House in Wilachoochie, GA?
