Mikey: Myspace Music’s “The Release” concert series featured Trey Songz last night at New York City’s Canal Room. Hundreds of female Trey Songz fans packed the venue, and even a decent amount of dudes played the cut as Drake introduced in his own words, “The greatest R&B singer of our generation”, who took the stage and definitely marked his turf, but the greatest?? I’d say it’s a little to early to say that Drizzy…yuuup.

“The greatest R&B singer of our generation”?
Man, the medication they got him on for that ACL injury must be strong as fuck.

And we are supposed to take someone’s word for whom the “greatest” is when they couldn’t spit hot sh*t if they chugged hot sauce? Boy, bye

Well I guess since Drake and Trey could be the future Jay-Z and R.Kelly music wise, he can say it. But these oldheads will never let their position go. Ugh.
Oh I heard the album today, I’m a bit disappointed honestly. I’m just going to take the tracks I like and mix them with the Anticipation mixtape.

is trey songz even international yet? he’s the greatest r&b singer of our generation drake? really you going to say that with a straight face. who you trying to play? as much as i like trey songz, i would gladly list r&b artists of mine, drakes, and trey’s generation who could be in “the greatest” conversation and trey songz would not be on that list. anyone notice how drake also makes the i’m the greatest comments regarding himself? wow.

Look man trey ain’t even better than the dream. I want this guy to stop remaking other peoples tracks, and make his albums better than his mixtapes. His first perfomance ever was in 2009 at the b.e.t. Awards and he came out in 04′ 05′. No hate on trey but I really want r. Kelly to just son this guy, to put him in his place and earn his spot.

lol. i mean i’ve been a trey songz fan since the time you said, but this dude is only as big as his latest female fan. i actually think his voice is great and he has boundless potential…but i don’t know who’s been managing this dudes career because it’s been slow as hell.

Who is a “trey songz”? or a “Drake” for that matter? Drake needs an album in stores before he can go around crowning ninjas. A little MTV hype and pre-teen groupies got this funny looking mofo Drake feeling like he got some clout. Cut it lol.

Drake is officially stupid. Remember he said soilder boy was the smartest rapper ever or some shit like that, called him a genius. I know trey and drake were best friends b4 drake blew up, but trust me when u make a comment like that, make sure trey can back that shit up (no homo). I think drake knew what he was doing, but it’s all about a buzz anyway, and that’ll get u some attention.

I think Trey is well on his way to taking the crown..let’s be real..when Drake says “our generation” he’s referring to my and his generation (the 25 and under crowd) and for us right now Trey is hot shit..there is nobody else competing with him like for real. There was Chris but that whole Chrihanna stuff sidelined him for a while…there’s no one else..sorry Dream doesn’t count considering he can’t sing his way out of a bag..let’s be real he’s a mediocre semi-r&b star. Usher is past his prime..he jumped the ship when he married Tameka sad but true.

I’m 25, and no trey songz in not the best in my era hands down. For example, Kobe is in my era right now, just like micheal Jordan once was, but I’m not gonna say Kobe is the greatest of my era just cause he the best out now, cause mike was there to, even though he retired. It’s called legacy, and even though trey hot right now in ur opinion, somebody’s musical legacy like a r. Kelly or Usher will never be forgotten. Trey will never come close to them legacy wise, but u probably don’t understand that, LOL smiley face
. If drake meant 25 and younger than he should’ve said that. And I use to be a fan of trey songz cause his first album was crazy, now he just talking crazy.

Your entitled to your opinion just like I am entitled to mine and I do think that Trey has a good chance. His new CD is really good. Im sorry but R. Kelly does nothing for me now..I haven’t been a fan of his since I was a kid ( and to be honest I shouldn’t have been a fan then since the music was mostly about sex and I was too young to know anything about that). I guess we’re just gonna have to agree to disagree..different strokes for different folks I guess.

Drakes views on Trey are his views and his views alone. The fact that he said them into a microphone on stage doesn’t give it anymore weight to me.
The most accurate thing I’ve recently heard about Drake was in an allhiphop.com interview I read yesterday.
“What Drake did is create a demand for himself. To be honest, I’m not even a big fan of Drake. I think the bar is so low in Hip-Hop that this dude is being appreciated like he’s that guy—and he’s ok to me….I could be wrong, but Drake seems like one of those guys in front of the mirror, who’s making sure his hand movements are on point, his feet expressions are right. So, I think he’s an actor—a good one…..
But the bar is so low, and the consumers are so unaware, that he can get away with it. It’s not Drake’s fault that the consumers, the fans, don’t know any better.”

“You a girl so dont remark on this”… What kinda bullshit is that? Sit down. Why you mad?
Trey is good. Yes, he is internationally known. But the greatest… Drizzy might wanna slow down with that. Still though Trey CAN sing if you disagree than thats on you but I personally dont deny his talent. Ofcourse he’s better than the Dream -_- come the fuck on!!! Trey’s a great singer… & his freestyles can put a lot of these so called rappers to shame. Oh & coming on to a blog to solely hate on somone is wack. We OFF THAT.

None of these corn balls and sing not one all are doing there best sing rap R Kelly impression from the 90’s and that dude cant even sing anymore you people really need to study up and learn your history to remember what real singing was it’s been so long since a real singer was steady on the radio we all forgot how to point one out. Sam cooke Otis Redding Donny Hathaway Marvin, Smokey, Stevie, dudes with range hitting real notes even the late great MJ incredible RnB voice when he chose to sing in that style. So don’t come to me with that mess Tre Songz, Chris brown, The Dream and so on can sing they are all great artist for different reasons The Dream is a walking hit factory when it comes to writing Tre has sex appeal and Chris is an incredible performer but not one of those dudes can hit a fucking note period. The only relatively new male singers who get any kind of respect vocally are the likes of John Legend, Maxwell, Raphael Saadiq, Anthony Hamilton, Usher at times, and Neyo as well as a few others but trust me real technical singing with great pitch and tone, riffs and runs the whole thing I’m talking a real VOICE in modern male RnB is a very rare thing these days…everyones getting there R Kelly on with the more hip-hop infused sing rapping instead of singing actual notes which is fine I mean no one does that style like R Kelly at least used to, so they really should just let dude do him and fall back but please don’t call these guys great singers cause that’s just disrespectful to the people who really do the thing. Thank god for Maxwells new record, D’angelo where you at your next hommie show em you still got it.

i love love love the new maxwell record and they were playing rapahel saadiq on a classical radio show the other day which kinda shocked me, but i’m glad that people aren’t forgetting about him because his ear for music is on point. i really pull for the dude musiq, and my cousin seems to think avant is the next coming of the most high, so i understand people come from different tastes…but trey songz as the best of my generation…are people that whack?

I rest my case on this, I’m not putting down trey songz, all I’m saying is in my era for me being 25, r. Kelly and usher have dominated my era, and trey songz is my age, born in 1984 like me so he’s in my era too. U can’t win against girls that love these niggas for they looks. Where were yall when chris and ne-yo was on top, now yall jump on his cock cause he wit drake and got a LOL smiley face
. C’mon son, when is it gonna be on pure talent, in which trey has potental to be good, but now I guess r&b is like rap now, so yes trey got it on smash now that this shit ain’t about music no more.

Ok im a dude hus 19 n i feel like trey is one of the best in this new generation…vocals are always on point if u go bak 2 first album n he has one of da smoothest tenor voices in terms of tone…but 2 mani ppl sleepin on him will always fink hes jus dat guy who sings hooks…real fans can c da growth n myb wiv da nex album he wil establish himself as da greatest of this era…none of da otha young dudes hav a gd nuff voice…dreams vocal range is limited…chris brown is a performer…neyo is da onli one hu comes close 2 trey in terms of vocals…all da uva dudes r more neo soul like maxwell n da rest r 2 old n therfore nt in this new generation…i fink drakes lookin 2 da future wiv his statement but trey does hav da most potential outa da new cats as a true vocalist…but he stil has sum wrk 2 do 2 prove it….

the dude drake on 106 and park said that kanye video is “the greatest video” and rocsii asks if you could redo that video or change something and the kid comes with “i know my female fans expecting something, me holding hands with a girl, but nah (something like that then him and trey break down laughing). me and kanye were in the studio talking and i’m a funny guy. i just wanted to do something different.” this is based on what i can remember from what i saw but i was flipping channels, watching news, listening to the radio, watching two other things on the tv…so i’m sure i didn’t get all of what he said, but that was basically it.
he said he’s rerelasing the mix tape as an ep with one new song so people can have a physical copy of the actual thing (lol see he picked up something. if i didn’t know that phsyical copy was a marketing term i would buy what he was saying
. the kid knows a bit about user/customer experience)…you`d buy it but you don`t need to buy it he said.
haven`t seen 106 in so long and haven`t watched anything on bet in so long. even missed neffy and franke and tiny and toya and all that grey goose rising stars shit.
