T.I. writes about his Harlem Anti-Gun Rally today

T.I. posted this message about his Harlem Anti-Gun rally today…he’s due to go in very soon but he’s still making time to appear at community events. Respect:
In a few weeks, I will begin a one-year prison sentence for being in the possession of illegal firearms. Where I come from, having a gun is just part of everyday life. But, through this painful process of going to court and being convicted, I realized that I had to make a change. I made some bad decisions. I broke the law and will accept my punishment. With deep reflection about where my life was headed, I have begun the process of redemption, and decided that before I go to prison, I want to speak to young people about responsibility as a lifestyle. I hope that through my mistakes, young people can begin to learn, as I did, that we have to put our guns down and start to give our guns back….
more after the jump…
It pains me inside to hear about so many of our people dying because of gun violence. Just in the past weeks, a 13-year old boy was shot in the head in Harlem, a 17 and 19-year old were murdered in a double homicide in Queens and a 15 year old was chased, beaten, shot and burned in Chicago…
We will gather today in Harlem, with many mentors and supporters by my side, including Rev. Al Sharpton, Russell Simmons, Kevin Liles, Political Swagger, Mobile Regime and the C.H.A.N.G.E. Initiative to share the message that now is the time. Now is the time to speak out against gun violence. Now is the time to take responsibility for our actions. Now is the time to make our communities safer. Now is the time to support good legislation, like the S.N.U.G. bill in NY. Now is the time to give back our guns. Now is the time for me to lead by example.
We can and we will do better.

I am not sure where this message fits in with TI’s anti-snitchin move where he kicked a very loyal Alfamega out. But uhm, okay.

I haven’t been keeping up with this story at all. I thought he already went in. It’s cool what they’re doing though.
Fro me stacks makes absolutely no sense. lol I can’t believe have that mentality. “Protesting crimes and brining them up in order to bring justice” is a good thing.

Info where are your real followers at today? These are the dumbest comments i’ve read…ever.
How dumb are the first three commentors that they feel crime prevention is in some way similar to snitching. No one is being set up, told on, questioned or going to jail. SMH in shame.

I have a lot of respect for T.I.
I think that he’s a role model. More artist should be more involed in events like this.
But i can’t help but wonder,
If he’d be doing this if he never got caught.
I do believe he’s honest.
I believe he’s a changed man due to the circumstances.
Why not talk about it.
Go T.I.

God bless you all you black leaders who came out today in Harlem to make a difference. The parents need to take responsibility of our minors. We really need to past a bill or law that children under 18 years old should not be allowed outside of their houses. Parents our children need to be indoors learning their books like the Chinease. Neighbors need to start caring like they did when I was coming up. If I was out side and one of my neighbors saw me doing something wrong they would scold me and tell my parents and then I would get in trouble with my parents. “It takes a Village to Raise A Kid”

umm..hello? What Im saying is this: Of course protesting gun violence is good. Guns are responsible for countless violent crimes in the United States and the world every year. I wasnt saying what TI is doing is wrong, Im simply stating the fact that this is the same guy who claims to 1. Be a gangsta 2. be from the hood 3. be against snitching. So him going out now, and protesting guns and violence because he is in trouble is conflicting with his own image. That is all I was trying to say. Sorry for the confusion.

There needs to be a PSA on Snitching. TOO MANY people are ignorant to the difference between Witnesses and Snitches.
