Last night’s Kanye West and Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) performance of “Lost in the World” gave me chills. So good! I think Ye’s probably happy because Justin is that singer who makes autotune sound right again. Not cheesy and dated like T-pain, but more like a soulful robot. Which is exactly what Ye wanted from his own voice. There were many great moments, but this song was my favorite. (See Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, and other cameos, after the jump)

the album is so classic.

I’m glad to see other people react the same way I do to this line:

“MJ Gone, Our nigga dead!!”
I heard the crowd wail it the same way ‘Ye does, and the same way I do every time I listen to it.

the drums on ‘Monster’..

the sick guitar solo and riffs on ‘Devil in a New Dress’..

the IMPOSSIBLY layered vocals on ‘Lost in the World’..

the strings on the intro to ‘All of the Lights’..

the horns and piano on ‘All of the Lights’..

the tortured vocal effects on the last rap verse of ‘Blame Game’… and singing the last chorus himself to add that vulnerability after Legend’s polish…

the three minutes of wordless auto-tune emoting on Runaway that shouldn’t work but ultimately adds to the general absurdity of the track..

the absolute perfection of POWER, from the sample to the marching band drums to the lyrical display of greatness..

i could seriously go on. it’s insane how good kanye is right now. and i’m not even one of these people who was always a fan.

omg nicki did it again.. why is she always rapping over a pre recorded track??? that shit is a vexation.. i don’t want to hear two voices at the same time!
