Things I dont think should benefit from an Obama presidency
Posted by Miss Info under about miss info , hmmm....? , life beyond rap , photos , things I ehh....[42] Comments
….but probably will.
ugh.
-Young Jeezy: because I cannot tolerate that a news network called him a conscious rapper. Just ’cause BMF is in jail doesnt mean anything goes, Jeezy.
-shameless Barack Obama consumerism: Because I didn’t like seeing the 4 different varieties of Obama cupcakes, cookies and chocolate bites at the Chelsea Market last week, and its not going to be any more appropriate to eat Baby Barack Ribs tomorrow. (I did not make any of those food items up) He’s our president….not a Disney character. Lets show some respect.
-self-promotional Barack Obama wordplay: BarackaWear, Hood Obama, Barack O’Drama (sorry Drama, still lub ya)
-Celebratory freestyles from rappers who didnt actually vote (y’all know who y’all are. Jadakiss wasn’t the only one). Celebratory freestyles from rappers who we never wanted freestyles from in any other circumstance (Tyga, Mims, Diddy, Bow Wow, etc).
-Joe the Plumber and Ashley Todd: can they be exempt from any future Obama tax break? A jackass exemption perchance?
-the old school politicians like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton who have built lucrative (post-civil rights era) careers as the ambulance-chasers of the racial and generational divide.
-Obama Girl: You must stop being allowed to call yourself that. You must stop getting paid to host clubs because you and your breasts made a horrible youtube video.
-Chocolate News and DL Hughley: both must be impeached from my TV….immediately.

can i start a list now of all rappers that we don’t need to hear from especially when they’ll follow-up with a track about hustling, money, or chicks….. nevermind you should know who you are. pretty much excludes 90 % of all rappers. it’s going to be like when R. Kelly throw’s out an inspirational song in between all of the greatest sex and feeling on a booty.

great post… however, chocolate news is hilarious. also, sharpton is still needed. obama will not solve every racial problem from the oval office.

chillax Info, its not that serious.
as the classic cliche goes, “if your name aint ringing, your not doing it right”.
as americans we have the right to free speach/enterprise, so if Jeezy wants to go from Tony Montana to Megar Evers (RIP) or they start slanging Barack “crocs”, im with it. (
shout out to all the spanish brothers and sisters who made their contribution, thanx)
VIVA BARACK !

“ambulance-chasers of the racial and generational divide.”- like that. But Obama’s election doesn’t mean that the divide and the need to sometimes protest injustices in Sharpton fashion (however you view his motives) will go away. The healing power of this election may be great, but there will sadly likely be more Sean Bells in the future. And Obama won’t be able to champion racial causes too aggresively because he will be scrutinized for it.

good point. And I think good people will always step up when crimes against humanity like the Sean Bell murder happen. But I’m talking more about those other culture war protests that some of these politicians adopt….like dropping soap off at the doorsteps of rich music label CEOs. Or protesting certain artists who are beefing with each other until they make certain “donations,” or cosigning Wacko Jacko.

Jeezy may not be a “conscious rapper” (can we put that phrase and chillax in the same garbage bin?), but at least he got on the phones to call voters in his home state, which is more than a lot of other people did.

@ Info-
If Obama is the son of a mother who is white and a father who is Kenyan, how is he black any more than he is white? The terms black and white are very general identifiers, but he is certainly no more of one than he is of another, except in the eyes of narrow-minded people who judge solely based on skin tone.
Obama is not an African-american president, or a black persident. He is just the President. Lets hope he does the right thing as a human before we start putting labels on him that don’t truly apply.

i know. I like the recession alot. good album. But I just think Jeezy should be Jeezy and not heralded into a different realm just because he made a timely song that included a moment in human progress history in the same breath as his pastel blue car.
And for the record, everyone knows I love drug raps. So I’m not complaining about the trap years.

u went IN info lol i second all of those ESPECIALLY CHOCOLATE NEWS.
every wenesday i watch South Park with my whole dorm at a liberal new england boarding school, and i cringe bein the only black person in the room when commercials for that damn show come on.
And i really really second the obama consumerism point. I hate that i can go to Urban Outfitters and buy an Obama Fo Yo Mama tshirt next to shot glasses and penis books.
again, great great post info

Excellent post, Info. I agree. I felt a certain way watching Jesse Jackson cry after he made the comments about “cutting Obama’s nuts off.”
Was he crying b/c he was proud or was he crying b/c he realized that he’s finished?
“You’ll never work in this town again!” LOL

I mean it’s a great medium though. One thing we demand of our artists is that they evolve but stay consistent to the things that made us take notice in the first place.

I don’t want to hear a bunch of racists (and extremely right wing rush limbaugh/sean hannity types) who would never vote for a non-white person talking about how much progress “we’ve” made as a country when they had no hand in facilitating the damn change just to prove some small minded point about race relations.

November 5th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
yeah, thats what we need, rappers tryin to rap about progress in the world. Then going back to the mostly unprogressive world of mainstream rap to spit the same unprogressive raps about degrading women, selling and doing drugs, and using the money in an un-progressive way like buying diamonds and jewelry. this will be a story on Fox News soon. i can see the headline now “obama supported my drug dealer rappers”. Thats the thing with most rappers these days, they need to learn that theres “a time and place” and how to be humble and know “when not to say something”.
you watch, and when you do, try not to throw up in your mouth.

We live in a different world now. Hov is thoroughly legitimized at this point. If salacious Bill Riley-esque headlines were effective, Obama maybe wouldn’t be president now. His connections with Weather Underground alum are far more damning than one with Ludacris or Jay-Z. At the same time though, rappers do kind of cheapen his image by getting all up in it. That said, Jeezy’s song is growing on me… except the part about e-mailing Jesus and CCing Allah, etc. Corny.

“Politicians like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton who have built lucrative (post-civil rights era) careers as the ambulance-chasers of the racial and generational divide.”
I’m so glad you had the guts to say that…is that the popular opinion on these two? I’ve always been curious as to how they are perceived by the youth of America..I got the impression that just because they were affiliated with MLK that they were some kind of sacred cows where you weren’t allowed to say anything against them even if you were in the right..and even if everyone agreed with you no-one would admit it for fear of being seen to go against them..
