The Sonning, pt.2: DJ Kay Slay blasts Jermaine Dupri…
Posted by Miss Info under beef , laugh at , not good for hip hop[44] Comments
After Greg Street kicked Jermaine Dupri off the ATL (creepy doll) chessboard, I knew that my coworker DJ Kay Slay was bound to have a similarly vocal reaction….to Jermaine’s indulgent, stupid, and probably innocently un-thought-thru statement about the death of the modern day DJ.
Here, Slay dissects the role of the DJ vs the role of the rap label exec. He also talks about Jermaine’s prior bankruptcy and missteps.
But with all the rhetoric and angry reactions….all you really need to decimate JD and his comments is this…..

Gay Slay is a pussy! What music is he producing that is worth a damn? He is a gossip bitch! Gay Slay is one of the reasons that we Artist are planning to stop fucking with DJs and go another route! These wack cats can be replaced with DJs that don’t steal music or go against the Artist, and the Record Labels will do what ever to please the Artist first fuck the DJ! The DJ is dead and can get beat up if they keep stealing and talking shit! STOP LEAKING MUSIC BEFORE YOUR ASS ENDS UP LEAKING!

Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow, G (Flav voice)! Damn that’s cold Inf! I don’t even know what made JD pop off like that, he should have known the site of cats walking onto his property repossessing cars would come back to haunt him in a beef. Especially against DJs. DJs came before the MC, before rap, hell would there be rap without a DJ? And retroactively would there be a JD without a DJ? So should I rail on DJs for creating this monster?

I ain’t going to front when i first heard when JD said what he said I was in agreeent with him. And when I heard Greg Street reply I still was in agreement with JD but after listenin to Slay man JD couldn’t be more wrong. I mean Slay said something that is so raw that if I was a JD artist I would be worried. “what if every DJ just stopped playing any of his artist music” wow! You see some of these people just jump into comments and don’t think about the effect of the words you say. Imagine what would happen if all JD artist were to be boycotted what would he do then? I always say “don’t get hype cuz of what you did in the past, get hype when you know what you will do in the future”.

Please explain to my why you feel JD was wrong in his assessment of the radio dj? Then let me know how many new artists without the backing of a major label are broken in on 105 or Hot 97 between the hours of 7am to 9pm. Clue and Kay Slay are the only cat’s that I know of in NYC that put new cats on. I am not even sure what time Kay comes on the air so his spins might be irrelevant.

Why is everyone jumping on JD’s d*ck JD is not talking about the established DJ Flex Mr Cee Kay Slay …This is the same Kay Slay thats shitting on Serato??? I think JD is saying cats dont focus on one think anymore they wanna get into clothing djing rapping production company tv movies blogs and not master one thing Just think Flex and Slay have other side things going on but their focus was on the love and art of djing . Slay , Greg and anyone else who thinks JD was speaking to the true DJ’s

id have to agree with “the L” and “what we think”……. but also man these radio djs get payed from wack rappers to play their songs.and they also get payed too not play hot songs that outshine them.thats why we hear all these wack dudes.and kay slay said the djs are the backbone?? no the fans are!!! cause with out the fans listening too the radio their wouldent be no radio.the fans are the backbone.if the fans never would of bought any of jayzs albums or rockawear gear their would be no jay z. the fans are the boss.and everybody i no are saying the radio fell off.all slay plays is papoose, gunit and remy ma. how wack!!! they only play dudes that pay them.but doesnt the radio allready pay them??

Ok cool blah blah back nd forth lol the thing ive been noticing more and more is that everyone in the rap industry is just angry and ready to point fingers and we support it but all these niggas is the ones with the money you think that they would be happy. The dj rapper execs all want to point a finger idk if hiphop is dead but criticism is alive. Can you guys atleast start to enjoy doing your jobs and stop letting your insecurities or what someone else says affect you so easily.

I agreed with Kay Slay, it’s record executive that’s messing up the game right now, hiring friends and family who have no idea about music and context. So many talents, dudes that spitting real hip-hop with context gets no love, ain’t the dj that’s putting the marketing dollars behind the artist. JD and all the other executives are responsible for putting bullshit albums.

The sad thing is that JD and Kay Slay are both right to some extent.
Some DJs still show love to artists (and some actually still DJ- Scratching, blending, etc.), while others just scream over so-called “mixtapes” with so-called “exclusives”. It’s like some of them are too busy trying to be the stars themselves instead of promoting the artists.
As far as execs, Kay Slay pretty much said it all.

The JD comments are part of the “Federal” attempts to assassinate Hip-Hop culture through digital jack moves (Apple iTunes/Zune)…Don’t believe that shit JD is spitting…he got paid to say that shit…please believe it. He is being paid to kill shit that breathes Hip-Hop…Without the DJ, there is no culture homie…Kay Slay and Greg Street good look on keeping it 100. Sooner or later Steve Jobs (CEO, Apple) will own Hip-Hop…publishing and all. Watch.

Kay Slay is dropping bombs with this commentary…makes since how Columbia Records dropped the ball with not signing Kanye West, compliments to JD’s father whom Kanye told he was the greatest and his son wasn’t shit (gangsta)…The MC needs the DJ…the microphone belongs to the DJ…without that the MC doesn’t exist.

I totally agree wit Kay Slay on the stupid dumm ass coment JD made about the DJs but yo Slay the DJs are also to blame for play’en that bullshit that gets air time. I know money plays a big part of it but the DJs are the key holders. Ya need the start a union or some shit to cleanse the culture of all the bullshit. And yo Info tell Slay I got the perfect name for his next mixtape… THE GUARDAINS OF THE GATE and only the best of the best underground ryhme spitters on it.

I think some of the dj’s are killing hip hop. Only because they are taking cash to play records. If I bring you a hot track with good production the next word out ya mouth should be about 10k to put my artist on ya tape. If you feel the record, play it don’t ask for cash from cats that are just starting out. In the end its going to work itself out. Record sales are decreasing and non traditional avenues are going to clear a little bit of room for artists who decide to control their own product. So if your a dj and you don’t get on board when a nigg* gets hot, fans will listen to someone else. We don’t care that you gettin doe, just don’t shut down the new cats cause they not connected. The same muthaFuc**** you see on the way up, you’ll see them on the way down. As above so below!
Oh and to the dumb mother****** who said Pappose ain’t hot, your f*cki** stupid!!!!!!!

hip hop. Just play the music stop trying to tell
or decide for us whats hot. We have ears we can hear good shit when it’s played. I dont need a dj to force a rapper on me who words dont make sense like gay ass lil wayne. The music has been taken from the ones who created it. The american blackman. hip hop has lost it’s soul nigga’s aint sayin shit.

Kay Slay is right. The D.J.’S have always been the backbone of hip hop going back to the 70’s when they were the the main focus not the rappers. Study your hip hop history because Kay Slay has been around the game before a lot of your cats were even born. Kay slay also was a graffiti writer in the late 70’s(Style Wars) so he has been around the culture since it’s inception so give that man some respect.
