While obviously I have no idea what went into the “creative” process, I have to agree that the “yes” man factor had to be in full effect, cuz you would think SOMEONE with some knowledge(and common sense) would have stepped up and said something before this went public.
I just assumed Busta was refering to the oil rich Arabs in the city of Dubai who have laced there city with nothing but extravagance in resent years but maybe I was giving him to much credit. Regardless it’s not what you say but what you mean by what you say that’s important and I don’t see how anyone could see any malice behind this track. But I said the same thing back when Imus was in trouble and people wanted to kill me so what do I know.
The N word NIGGA was made by white people that look just like you! It’s funny how people try to make it seem like they are not white. FUCK A ARAB! they the most ignorant motherfuckers, just go walk in a 7-11. They madd stuck up people. and ARABS are very racist against black people. You come across one who isnt, and that is a very unusual situation. The norm over there(like rest of the world) is .the darker your skin, the lesser of a person you are perceived. Arabs are not very poor, they are very rich. and go ficure, they got this Jewish guy up on hot 97 tryin to relate for the tri state area…..who he reppin the jews on eastern parkway
um….way to generalize everyone. I’ve walked into many 7-11s, and met many non-racist ppl of Arabic descent.
Also, I think its good and necessary for folks at Hot97 and any other youth culture media outlet to discuss issues like this, PR’s background has nothing to do with that.
you seem to have deep-seated prejudices. I hope that works out for you.
hmmm, well not everyone is like that, so its unfair to make everyone carry your baggage, you know?
If you have prejudices against Asians, shouldn’t I get the benefit of the doubt before you brand me?
Speaking in Arabic, al-Zawahri uses the term “abeed al-beit,” which literally translates as “house slaves.” But al-Qaida supplied English subtitles of his speech that included the translation as “house negroes.”…
racists would react differently to an asian female than they would to a black male.
I think PR’s backgroud does come into question , if he’s discussing the potential racism of Bussa bussa. On what for all intents an purposes is a station that plays black music and has mostly black listeners.
When word gets out that Al-Zawahiri and other Arabs have been dissing Obama, it’s going to be taken hard, especially in certain parts of Detroit and Chicago
They have been victimized by the genocide in southern Sudan for the past 20 years, which is now accompanied by a lesser genocide in Darfur directed at killing, or expelling from their land, black African (i.e., non-Arab) Muslims. They have been victimized by the Muslim Arabs
Honestly I am against racism, and there is so much of it on this earth….
A racist would treat an asian person(even female) diff. than a black man….I strongly feel that.
And when Miss Jones did that tsunami song on hot 97….I thought that shit was madd fucked up…..and I totally understood Miss Info’s regard on that situation….I feel for those who have fucked up racist ways casted upon them, by others…..hate that shit! Can make me lose my senses.
How is racist and sexist? Its the truth. I mean seriously. its not even debateable. smh if you think you would get the same reaction from a store own as a black male would you are lost.
2) the station does not have mostly black listeners…neither does hip hop as a genre.
well I guess if most of the worlds curry eaters aren’t indian, its no longer classed as South Asian cuisine right? You missed the point
1st they were upset about arabic ramblings in the 1st version and then when they something in arabic that has some meaning to it they still upset i dont see the outrage any where i havent heard this story on cnn every one has there time to bitch about something and this is their time all the blacks that where crying about o.j. last week call me on hot 97 to speak on how he was rail roaded, thats another day!! Busta Made a good song bigging up a people who as a country dont really give to shits about this country hip hop or Busta Rhymes so at the end of the day let music be music it makes me feel good stop reading into it to much!!!!
i completely understand the standpoint of the Arab community about the reading of the Qua’ran on the song.. the Qua’ran is extremely sacred to the Muslim community.
On what C-RANX is saying, bein a 17 year old black male born and raised in brooklyn, ive had too many encounters with Arabics that have been very very very rude and disrespectful to me, my friends, and my friends little sisters, clearly based on our races/genders.. But at the corner store on my block, the guys were dope, and completely embracing. I would go there just to chill and we all knew each other on a first name basis. (One was a HUGE Nas fan, when “Street’s Disciple” dropped i went straight there and we listened through it 3 times in a row).. My brother converted to Islam a couple years ago.. It’s all about the experiences you’ve had with people. Generalizations never work. Granted there are some customs and beliefs that are built into Islamic culture, but how they translate into one persons expression of them is up to that person. Again, generalizations never work.
hey info in the same vein, did u ever catch/have an opinion about the chinese gibberish on “Learn Chinese” by Jin? “Piki piki pi pi poo” that the girls are singing during the bridge

We wrote about this in depth on http://www.birthplacemag.com, asking what if a Middle Eastern rapper released “Negro Money”, and there are multiple points here, (though serious “round tables” should probably be left to Lisa Evers, no disrespect, lol). Look, these guys are not the ones who are necessarily going to be offended. The ones who ARE offended, have definite, legitimate points. But the bottom line is that if I were a white rapper, or a Middle Eastern rapper, or a Chinese rapper, attempting to “compliment” and “big up” the African-American culture in the same sort of way, and came across with this kind of ill-researched, near-mockery of black folk, I’d be the Salman Rushdie of hip-hop.
Busta Rhymes is an ignoramus, this much is clear. And pardon me if it’s an unpopular viewpoint, but it does seem that Blacks get more of a pass in the media where racism is concerned. One reason is because it’s acknowledged that they’re an oppressed group; the other main reason being that the behavior is not taken as seriously by the White “powers that be.” Those more skeptical or inclined toward conspiracy theory might even say that it’s because those same powers want to promote the perpetuation of ignorant behavior. Case in point is the scrutiny Eminem had to deal with surrounding his homophobic remarks, when of course homophobia has been rampant in hip-hop all along, but never seriously addressed. You really have to overstep (ie: “Tsunami Song”) to end up on the media chopping block. But when a stereotypical Jewish intonation is used to voice the demanding landlord on Hot 97, it’s basically acceptable. I’m not suggesting it’s a total free for all, just that there’s some double standards.
Regarding the more specific topic of this song, I must admit I’ve chuckled at it and even nodded my head. However, it’s childish not to mention completely culturally inaccurate and misinformed. Busta is kind of tarnishing his legacy these last few years, and he should probably just go away.
Rosenberg is soooo freakin annoying!!! I can’t even listen to that show, Cyph is cyph…maybe ’cause I already know how he is. But Rosenberg ugh…his voice, his stupid ass comments, I just can’t take it..so I listen to corny ass Ed Lover until Big Boi comes on @ 7
I know my comment is off topic but I just had to get that out
-I find DJ Khaled saying NIGGAS all over his songs offensive.
-I find these 2 ‘Ay-rab’ ,walking, talking charichatures of African Americans, getting their panties in a bunch about a song talking about how rich arabs are offensive.
Negro Money wouldnt be made , so that comparision is blown out of the water.
Have you never heard Woman is the nigger of the world by John Lennon? Kinda been done.
Simplistic “well what if we said that about black people” fox news type counter arguement.
Minorities in general get more of a pass, just like women get a pass for saying sexist shit too.
Wow, Negro Money Would Just Like Saying Ni–a Money, Black People Didn’t Wake Up And Say I Feel Negro Today Its An Title Given To Us Cause Whites Didn’t Want A Sign on There Buildings That Said No Niggas Allowed, on the other Hand Arab Isn’t A Monnicker, It Is In Fact The Nationality Of This Class Of People.

and Rosenburg brah, yeah you really are slipping, for real info you guys need to get your shit together because some of these debates y’all are having is garbage, no disrespect but y’all just coming up with some FUCKRY
Mazzi C’mon brah, look for a different come up
Noose whatever your name is, back to the drawing board
Respect to everyone’s religion but Hip Hop has been quoting the bible for years, both negative and positive, if you wanted to stand up and say something, you should have said it then.
PS: Mazzi dont get mad because the Koran is being quoted, y’all aint special, what? unless you are saying you are better than us, and if that’s what you are saying come out and say it.
@LOL…..I don’t see the relevance of your attempts at belittling Dominicans (I could be wrong). It’s an ethnic group, and we are proud to be Dominicans, just as I assume you are proud to be black Americans. Please note that Arab, Arabic, or whatever derivative of the word does not denote a race either. Arab is an ethnic group as well.
That said, I didn’t see any point of this round table talk…don’t feel that the real issues were spoken of. While Mazzi and Noose are of middle eastern ethnicity, they don’t really attack the issue at hand—offensive use of the word Arab, or the language. And who really is protesting this song….I haven’t heard of any massive outrage or boycott..then again I have been in the dark for a while!
White powers that be take the lower Black negroes very seriously! They make themselves very aware of the progress of Black folk. Maybe they didnt take them seriously enough…..Obama in the office now…LOL
Negro Money….niggas talk about Negro money all the time…..Listen to your average rap song now a days. Rappers do nothing but talk about their Jewelry, and their (imaginary) Bank accounts.
My gripe was the ignorance – Busta is just so misinformed it’s pathetic. I thought his verse on Nas’ “Fried Chicken” was so multi-layered and creative too.
Wow, this is getting a little out of proportion. Reminds me of the financial crisis that gets worse by people thinking and saying that it’s getting worse.
Fact is: It’s not about who is involved in a round table like this one, everyone should have an opinion and should be free to raise his/her voice. It gets more interesting, however, the more (diverse) people are involved that can speak for the feelings of certain ethnic groups. I think Mazzi is a great addition as he is muslim and understand the ides and difficulties of combining modern art with the islamic religion, but he’s not arab and 100% hiphop so he can act as some kind of translator here.
I dont really know Noose/Newz/Nooz, but he is somebody that is potentially directly effected by the lyrics and he even saw the problem arising at a very early stage and offered his advice.
Then you have Rosenberg who is, I assume, very familiar with the arabic situation and (and that’s what’s far more important) interested and intelligent enough to discuss complex topics like this from a hiphop stand point. Would you want Kay Slay do that round table? Exactly… I’m glad somebody at the biggest and most influential hiphop radio station in the world is touching this subject. I’m hoping that the years of hiphop artists & industry people not commenting anything that might get controversial are over. The US started several wars, had a president faking the elections and the whole world witnessed the Kathrina catastrophy and only a handful of artists really said something about it.
Now for the last posts that said “the bible as been recited in lyrics, why shouldn’t the quran be recited”: The christian culture has a far more open-minded view at things like that. It used to be different but the christian culture is in a stage where you can do pretty much everything with the bible and Jesus and everything that used to be sacred. Maybe not in South America, maybe not in Italy, but in Northern America and most parts of Europe, sacred things are not so sacred anymore. I’m not saying this is good, I’m not saying this is bad, but this is the way most parts of the christian communities handle things in 2008. The muslim communities are totally different from that. The quran is absolutely untouchable and there’s no way around it.
Now, to sum it all up:
1) Everybody should be careful whenever they touch religious matters, especially when it’s about something you are not too familiar with.
2) Then again, if Busta is a muslim,… wtf? He should really know better.
3) How can we seriously discuss a situation that’s about religion and ethnic groups and be full of prejudices and hate. This needs to stop. If you’re not ready to accept that there’s more than one standpoint you’ll never be able to understand other cultures. You don’t have to embrace everything but accept it for what it means to other people.
Few thought on some of the comment i read here.
First off, people(Arab) werent really upset with the first arab money version. Only thing was the Jibberish in the hook, dud was saying nothing… just making sounds that sounded arabic…
Me im egyptian, i thought it wasnt really creative in a sense..
Think about someone making a songs about Hispanics or latinos and just saying anything in the hook that sounded Spanish.
Point is, theres alot of People who speak arabic in the TRI-STATE AREA Ron Browz, Busta or someone could of gotten it right and had someone help them out.
Then…. Part two
They get the remix popping.
Hook has arabic in it, Problem is its Qouted from the Holy Quran.
Bism Allah Al Rahman Al Raheem
Hamdu ALllah Rab Al- Alameen
As a muslim, i was like whoa.
As a musician(producer) i thought it was creative but the wrong tone for the song.
They probably had the right intentions, but misrepresented it without knowing the true meaning.
I talked to a few muslim people, and the reaction was negative.
THEY TOOK THE REMIX OFF HOT 97 BECAUSE IT WAS OFFENSIVE, basically just replaced the hook.
In England a DJ was suspended for playing the song.
If you play close attention to the media, you see how The Quran is always mentioned in terms of respect it. Whether its a Soldier in Iraq who does something offensive to a Quran, or stories we used to hear about how poeple would disrepect inmates qurans in Abu Gharib prison in iraq or Guantanamo Bay.
If the US military was taking actions against soldiers who disreepected the Quran, then you see the Line in the sand when it comes to the Culture, religion and the Beliefs.
All in all, it was more of a behind the scenes contreversy, Program directors had to pull plug on song. Some stations kept it. Power 105.1 plays it still.
Respect to HOT97 for pulling it.
About mazzi. i know him personally, good dude, hes Long time friend of cipha sounds and thats how him and noose got this popping.
Noose is also my dude, ive been producing records for him since he started.
Weve got orignal songs with Akon, Bone thugs, Dj Khaled, K-slay alot of good music.
You could listen to a few joints below copy the links or go to his myspace/noosemusic or website noosemusic.com
Check out his youtube channel for a lil more insight on dude, also watch some of his music videos
“Cry” is a good one, about inner city struggle, clips shot in Hudson County Jail, and lots of jersey city and paterson NJ locations.
Also paying respect to RIP Screw in the video.

What exactly do you mean by acting black? Just curious to know what acting black is, so I don’t offend any black people.

It’s not really acting Black, it’s acting hood.
