The Avon Barksdale Story: Legends of the Unwired (trailer)
Posted by Mikey Fresh under videos[10] Comments
Mikey: This looks interesting similar to BET’s American Gangster series, Koch E1 is gearing up to release a documentary on the real life Avon Barksdale whose character was portrayed in the HBO series The Wire. Wood Harris, who played Barksdale on the show hosts and interviews the man himself in this upcoming straight to DVD release. (spotted at Icedot)

Hmmmm…………
The wire = the best show ever
this however seems a bit cheesy with the reenacted scenes and the voiceover is comedic at best.
i think i would like to know the story (characters) that inspiredthe show but perhaps in the way american gangster did it…

I would be interested in this story if they did sort of a prequel to The Wire telling the story of Avon & Stringer and how they got down in the streets and how they all connected all the way into the first episode of The Wire.

its very obvious why this went straight to DVD. The person doing the voice over sounds too happy…this need someone talking like Barksdale was the most feared dude in B-More.

Nathan Barksdale’s middle name isn’t Avon. He has no middle name, according to the Baltimore City Paper. That tells you a little something: He renamed himself after the fictional character after the fact.

All you idiots are whack. If you pay attention to the story rather than worrying about cinematography, you’d see the truth in the docudrama. If Nathan Barksdale wasn’t really right then explain all the other figures names, real news footage, and other undeniable facts depicted in the show. A journalist, with all respect due, doesn’t have the street aptitude to understand the drug world as well as it was in the wire. Simon, like his white people, continue to rape our culture. The true intrigue with the wire was the gansta life and Simon nor Burns lived it. They just didn’t want to pay the real characters for the counts of their lives so they deny everything. Stop being dense.
