Thank you…..

I haven’t opened my laptop since saturday afternoon….and honestly, I slept for longer than 4 hours at once, for the first time in weeks. Not to mention that horrible crampy pit in my stomach is finally gone along with 20 tons of worry…..but it was all all worth it. On Sat. night the Rebuilding the Bridge charity event was successful. Well, it sold out, and so that means thats alot of money to be able to hand over to Mercy Corps in one wop. But it meant alot to me and everyone involved also because of what the actual participation of the people involved represented to me, both on a very personal scale, and on a cultural scale. I dunno…its all too mushy to get into maybe. But I’ll add more photos and videos and backstage stories later on (I gotta collect them from folks cuz I didnt get to take a single pic myself…sucks).
But for those who asked for a refund on their $25 in tax deductible donation, well…I hope that pair of movie tickets and that one box of top tier candy in the concession stand case was enjoyable ; )
And for those (ahem…) who did everything in their power to try to derail some guests from volunteering their time for a cause they believed in, just because it stood in the way of your precious afterparty money….it didnt work. (And fyi: even if you’re not strong enough to do the right thing, you should never stop someone else from doing it.)
Ok, I’m gonna pass out again, but I’m definitely compiling a full list of thank yous…until then, I’ll thank all the special guests and performers….From Andrew Choi, to Beau Sia, JYP with JLim and G-Soul….Just Blaze (who did my boy DJ Delinger the extreme honor of a gentleman’s battle on the wheels of steel), Cipha Sounds, who brought out Ryan Leslie, who killed “Diamond Girl” and then talked to the crowd…to the Dynamic Rockers and the Breaks Crew who put on a feat of b-boying that would melt your mtv….to the newly crowned mainstream sons of the bboying tradition The Jabbawockeez….and of course to my boy Rik Cordero and the one and only Nasty Nas.
Mikey Fresh was an incredible help throughout the night and caught some of this on tape….
lol, I havent watched the video myself…because y’all know how I am with that, lol…but I def wanna add video of Just Blaze, Ryan Leslie, the Breaks crew and Dynamic Rockers, and more…
And thank you to Sav and Steve from Best of Both Offices for sending out footage from the night too. That’s a big look! (PS: Steve, Nas supported Rik and the RTB movement).

Miss Info, I was lucky enough to attend and thought the event was great. It seemed like you were the driving force behind that whole thing. Congrats!
By the way, I found it to be wholly ironic that Rep. John Liu (known to be the biggest media whore among his fellow Council members and employees and vocal critic of HOT 97) was there. I bet he was squirming in his seat. That’s good for him. I was hoping you or Ciph was going to call him out, but alas, it was too nice of an event. LOL.

Hey – yeah…the event and concept was great. Our group held our own round of fundraisers (see website)just last month for disaster relief.
And by all means, this was a HUGE production. I definitely know what it takes to do something like this. Our group is planning on doing a benefit show sometime later this year as well in view of the 3rd anniversary of Katrina. So yeah, good job with being a part in pulling this entire thing together.
Do you happen to know who the original organizers are? I’d like to talk to them to discuss future projects like this. Thanks!
