T.I. Writes His Final Prison Letter: “I’m Going All The Way Back to…I’M SERIOUS, TRAP MUZIK”

(T.I. brings out Mary J. Blige, Maino, Cam’ron, Vado, B.o.B., Swizz Beatz & Keri Hilson at secret show (NYC)
Tip recently wrote his final letter to the outside world from his cell at the Forrest City correctional facility. Due back home next month, the Kang sent his final thank you’s and update to fans on his mental state and plans when he touches down.
What up world? This will be my last message from Forrest City. Just reaching out and sending my love, respect and appreciation to all who have been ridin’ with me throughout this chapter in my life and not just recently but since all the things started happening one after another back in ’06. From Big Phil’s murder to my beautiful little angel Leiah being called home to heaven, to my arrest in ’07, the 1st prison sentence in ’09, to this last journey that I’m nearing the end of. A lot of people who are aware of all that has happened to me in my life say that there aren’t many men who could have endured and withstood so much pain, pressure and turmoil while managing to remain sane and keep their wits about them.
continued after the jump…
I must say that I wouldn’t have been able to do so without God’s grace and having a strong support system behind me every step of the way. So often we spend time acknowledging the presence of “haters” and all the negativity they send our way but we don’t take the time to acknowledge and appreciate all the ones who love and support us and supply us with the positive energy we need to overcome. We complain about the pain so much that we don’t even notice how much stronger, wiser and better of a person the suffering has allowed us to become. I heard Pac say once “To live is to suffer and to survive is to find meaning in that suffering.” I later found out it came from an author by the name of Friedrich Nietzsche. When I heard Pac say that it was just some hard shit to hear your favorite rapper say before he kicked a verse. Now that I’ve gone through it and grown from it those words have a real true meaning to me. I know this won’t be my last battle with adversity but it has truly prepared me for whatever else may come in the future. For that also I’m thankful. Now it goes without saying that I hate I had to come back to prison for these 10 months but I am truly grateful for the knowledge, growth and understanding I’ve received from the experience.
Next time you hear from me I’ll be back out there with you. Doing for those who can’t do for themselves and speaking for those whose voices are never heard. When I touch down, I’m going all the way back to square one, like I’m fresh in the game and never sold a record. Back on some I’M SERIOUS, TRAP MUZIK shit… But until then RESPECT to all who deserve it. I’ll be back at you in a minute.

he won’t still be on probation when he comes out, right?
are they going to let the man smoke a joint and have a drink with his wife in peace?

He could have did that the first time he got out but instead he decided to smoke and drink syrup while making illegal u-turns. Hopefully he’s smarter and more discreet when he gets out this time.

true.
but i’ll still nitpick and say an illegal u-turn does not provide reason to search a vehicle. and the cops claimed the scent of marijuana was the reason and yet no marijuana was actually found and nobody was charged with possession of anything.
thus, the only reason he actually went back to jail was a probation violation, not any alleged possession of a controlled substance, codeine, marijuana, or otherwise.
still, true enough that he should be smarter.

I don’t know where ur from, but I’m from Chicago and if ur driving a Maybach or whatever he was driving and u do something illegal, ur going to talk to law enforcement and I’m pretty sure ur wrong about nothing being found cause I’m pretty sure I can remember tiny pleading guilty to having illegal substances.

it doesn’t matter where you’re from; an illegal u-turn is not reason to search a vehicle.. even a maybach.
do you think there are special rules for maybach drivers? do you think there are special rules for maybach drivers in chicago?
they were booked for possession of a controlled substance. the charges were dropped.
my point was that when you’re on probation the penalties for these infractions become much stiffer.
Bruno Mars was arrested in possession of cocaine with the powder still fresh on his nose. He probably spent less than an hour in jail.

It happened It Cali where Weed isn’t a big deal at all. A fine at most for a small amount. It was the Codine or whatever syrup is made from that did him in.
As far as searching the car. if you’ve ever smoked you know it’s very possible that they finished the blunt 20 minutes before they got pulled over but the smell was still in the car.
I’m not saying he was innocent or guilty he just needs to make smarter decisions.

If your on probation or parole in California it’s automatic search and seizure. If your driving while black and a cloud of smoke that ain’t cigarettes is in the air…yea ok.

Good on him. If only more rappers had the luxury and/or bravery to make music which sounded uncompromising.

This is the problem I have with these guys, he did ten months in the can and he’s acting like he went away for 10, minimum security at that! Then he says he’s going back to square one, back to the trap, but in reality he’s not, he’s getting out and going back to a mansion in northern Atlanta no where near the trap. People need to be real about who they are and where they are for the youth coming up.

your nit picking. He said he’s going back to his old style of music which made him big and gained him his notoriety. He’s not saying he’s going to live on his grandmothers couch in his childhood neighborhood.

Ok he said “Back on some I’m Serious Trap Muzik shit”, I don’t know how you comprehend that, but to me it sounds like he is about to start rapping about his former life and the life people are out there really living and the shit that got his dumbass in jail. TI should be on a island somewhere right now, flyin on G5’s not a Kentucky prison, it’s people that would kill somebody for the opportunity he has!

If you don’t know, I’m Serious and Trap Muzik are his first 2 albums titles. If you did know that then I guess it’s open to interpretation as words always are.

Good for Tip. I hope he comes out strong. HipHop needs all the good rappers it can get. On a side note, damn I miss Pac. No one could balance the streets with the classroom like him. He exposed so many young people to things that they would have never heard about. He embodied the struggle, confusion, and contradiction of poor american youth. Never be another.

T.I.’s best record is still “I’m Serious.”
if he hasn’t topped that til now (Bring Em Out was another good one), he wont top it when he comes out.
I’d love for him to prove me wrong, but quite frankly, hip hop today has no cahones nor musicality. And to make a track on the same level as “I’m Serious” needs both.
on a side note, how ILL was that Neptunes beat?!! shed a tear for this hip hop shit.

To be Honest I like T.I.P in that type of form anyway. I wasn’t really feeling the “whatever you like” T.I, even though understand its more marketable. It will be interesting to see his mind state. Atlanta needs his presence.
@jisthrough : I don’t think T.I means he’s literally going back to the trap ;who would expect him to. he means content wise in his music.

Hopefully he reaches his potential and can escape his addictions without creating more wreckage. He is not the only person that suffers when he goes to jail. If he is smart he will begin to look at what his behaivor is doing to his children and those that love him. He’ll always be able to make music but waking up tomorrow with your family in tact isn’t guaranteed.
