T.I.’s Baby Mama blast was “sheer expression never meant for the public”

T.I.’s “That How You Want It” song (featuring some scathing words for his first baby mama Lashon Dixon around the 2:07 mark “I rolled around wit you for years and I regret it still. And well, since you ain’t let yourself know, You look a mess, Just let yourself go I guess…“) leaked on the recent unauthorized T.I. Live from Forest City… mixtape, but according to his manager Jason Geter, the song was Tip’s way of letting off steam during him and Dixon’s recent child support battle. Meanwhile other songs on the tape were actually recorded back when Tip was a teen! In a written statement, Tip (via Geter) apologizes for the song, but honestly….it’s his opinion and one that others probably relate to. So, what’s the big deal?

“T.I. Live From Forrest City Facility Mixtape is in no form or fashion affiliated with T.I. or Grand Hustle. T.I. recorded the track “That’s The Way You Want It” as a means of release while dealing with a very public child support case. The song was never intended to be released in any way. T.I. loves and respects his kids and would never do anything intentionally to disrespect the mothers of any of his children. Artists often record music for sheer expression that is never meant for the public. T.I. and Grand Hustle regret that this song was leaked and would like to apologize to all parties involved. The other songs on the mixtape are tracks recorded when T.I. was a teenager.”

…the song did seem rather random.
Like “hey lets throw this out while he’s in jail and his current woman has a new reality show.”

I mean I am sure he was very frustrated with how the legal system is and felt like why can’t see do what I and many other people have been able to do. I mean the fact of the matter is if he was a broke,non successful,Rap superstar this wouldn’t have been the case.
However with that said I didn’t think he should have went in with the letting yourself go stuff. Remember that still is the mother of your kids and if a man was to talk about your mom that way you would be ready to fight. I hope that the future the courts can see that money shouldn’t be left up to the mother but a third party with no Bias that will spend the money on the kids it was ment for and not the mother who we all know will use it for more than just a kid because last time I checked I didn’t have to spend 40k a month on my son.

Celebrities shouldn’t blast non-celebrities. It’s not like she can reply on wax back at him. Being a celebrity has it’s advantages and disadvantages. So does being a regular person. One advantage about being a regular person is your dirt doesn’t travel across the world. I don’t care if she is the most money grabbing woman on the face of the earth she’s not a celebrity.

You mean, like the all ex felons, gangsta’s, pimps and drug king pins that are rapping now. Cat’s these days don’t use their real lives as material. Any other time, it would be some ole ‘respect my privacy’.
Rappers speak on the personal issues when they want to win favor in the court of public opinion. T.I. can use his celebrity as a platform to call someone out. When she drop that book he is gonna cry foul.

Not entirely feeling your point. For the simple fact that music derives it’s topics and subject matter from people that we don’t even know, never seen, or would never have any contact with. So TI talking about his “baby mom” in a song is what’s probably supposed to happen in one form or another.

Dont really understand #3’s point considering that the song was never meant for release. Despite his rap persona, T.I. has consistently demonstrated maturity, manners, and interviewing/grammar well beyond his rap peers. I like the fact that his camp made the effort to clean it up. She can be a bitch or hoe to you, but she is mommy to your kid so you have to give her a minimal amount of respect – which T.I. did by not releasing the rant and apologizing when it did get released.

The big deal is that his kids can now hear this song and his statement shows he knows that isn’t fair to his kids to hear him talk about their mom like that. It doesn’t benefit anybody for this stuff to get out there.

DISRESPECT IS DISRESPECT. tiny should take a step back and look at how he is treating ms. lashon what makes him think she won’t get the same treatment. people keep saying oh he was expressing himself it never meant to get leaked. however, he took the time to make a beat for it.
