Das Video is schon ein bisschen älter, hab ich aber gerade erst entdeckt. Swizzy, bekanntlich einer der bekanntesten New Yorker Produzenten (u. a. für DMX, Jay-Z, T.I.) geht jetzt auch unter die Maler.

Is this guy serious? I guess everybody has to start somewhere, but Basquiat knock-offs and skulls? This guy is one step past nouveau riche and really feeling himself, huh? Unfortunately anyone that knows the first thing about art will – well wait – they’re all kiss asses in the art world, so they’ll pose for a picture with him and snicker quietly to themselves I guess.

Nocando, I don’t care for his pieces myself. But if he’s able to make a name for himself … then he truly deserves his props. In the real art world, a name and your associations is everything.

You really can’t gauge his passion just by the pieces he own. It’s his personal taste. Don’t forget that throughout history, the art realm has been dictated by taste makers, just like fashion, just film, music, etc.
