Mikey: Steve Stoute gets money with Jay-Z, he’s brokered deals with Nas, and even felt the wrath of an angry Puff Daddy Diddy. He’s been in the Hip Hop game for well over 2 decades and has seen em all come and go. The Life Files got the chance to pick his brain for a bit and finds out what keeps him motivated, what his relationships are like with the mentioned artists today, all while getting some real knowledge and first hand experience on what it takes to be successful in the music industry.
(Part 1 after the jump)
“Check out part one of Javid’s highly anticipated interview with entertainment/advertising mogul Steve Stoute from the private roof deck of his New York City office. In this installment Steve talks making Fortune magazine’s “40 under 40” list this year, partnering with his friend Jay-Z to help run his Translation Advertising last year, why he Mary J. Blige and Gucci teamed up to help women with their FFAWN organization and finishes that interesting story about how it was initially Jay-Z’s idea to extend an invite to 50 Cent for his own Reebok sneaker.” – the.Life Files

Illuminati Got there mind soul and there body. if you think for a minute that everything you see and hear in music isn’t by design, then you need to wake up. You don’t make a certain amount of money unless you give in to the powers that be. I do however believe in the Nas statement, Dude really don’t like the fame.

Nas is the truth and I do believe he likes the fame but he cares more about the music that he makes than being an attention hungry star in this industry!

You know a cat gets paper when he is chauffered to the gym. My homeboy is an ex-boxer and trains this cat and he gets chauffered either in Rolls Royces or extended Escalades every day…

I remember Nas turned down that beer commercial, budweiser i think, because he didn’t want to promote drinking to the young black ghettos. then Dr. Dre did the commerical.

I always tell people Nas could have been the hugest artist on the planet, but he just doesn’t want to be. That’s why I hate how these Jay-Z stans say Nas lost the war because Jay-Z is more famous then him. NOT EVERYONE WANTS TO BE FAMOUS! Nas just doesn’t give a fuck about all that. He’s a real dude, unlike camelface!

Truthfully I don’t think it’s a matter of who is more famous because in all honesty you can’t really have a conversation about Jay without someone bringing up Nas and vice versa! I just think Nas is less concerned about people respecting him for business reasons and more concerned about his creative ability to make great music! As Steve stated in this interview “People should not look at Nas for what business deals he has made or not made…because he is simply not running that race! ” Nas is a true aritist in the PURIST sense and Nas is in a league of his own and has already solidified his place in hip hop history! If more artists with Nas’ success actually concentrated on their music…hip hop would be in a great space right now! I’m quite sure Nas is making business investments but that is not what drives him nor does the need for public attention at all time! It’s all about the music!

Difference between Nas and the rest is that Nas don’t give a flying fuck what people say and care. He’s about that crack music and ill lyrics
Nas:
“What If I did all the Advertisement thrown My Way
And I boned every chick that would throw me some play
I’d have to load another AK cause Niggaz be jealous
Cause we real like them Brazil favelas “

Steve Stout just said the bottom line,Nas dnt want be really famous but he dnt hav a choice cos he is in d industry. Nas is a reluctant star, more like a Tim Duncan with all his stats,Rings, skills but u never hear about him like dat cos he is not always out there.
