Souljah Boy vs. Charles Hamilton
Posted by Miss Info under beef , good for hip hop , laugh at , videos[52] Comments
interesting…the kids are goin’ at it, eh? This is gonna be entertaining.
Well, Charles, this is a much more better dialogue than you vs. Yung Berg would have ever been, don’t you agree?
I can’t wait to hear your song-response though. Because youtube vs youtube, the kid with the cuts in his brow has too many subscribers to be beat. I dont think he wants its lyrically though.

Soulja Boy is a smart dude and these starvin’ rap cats always try to call him out. I don’t even listen to him like that (I’m 26) but he makes the right moves.

soulja boy is a dick. get him off these blogs already! he can’t talk – he’s the most inarticulate person – and he’s not funny in the slightest. he needs to quit saying unfunny shit and sniggering at his own “jokes”. I’ll see where he’s at when he’s 30 – just cos you blew off of one song/dance when you were 17, doesn’t make you smart/talented/better than anyone, you got lucky! Matter of fact I’ll see where he’s at in 4 years. And btw, you’re not thought to be “cooler” the less vocabulary you use. you just sound like a dumb motherfucker, for real!

It’s always interesting when pop strikes back.
I’m not a fan of Souljah Boy’s music, but he definitely makes a few points (and throws a few jabs) when artists try and tear him down.

Charles Hamilton should never mention Soulja Boy EVER. It’s a lose/lose situation. Only be concerned with your direct peers/competitors or people above you in status via talent and/or skill. By getting mad at Soulja Boy you’re fucking up already.
It isn’t Soulja Boy’s fault people are afraid of lyricism or originality. It’s been that way since 1997 and Souljah Boy 7 or 8 years old when the entire industry changed and media across the board got dumbed down. Just do you and keep it moving.
Let Soulja Boy do what he does. You won’t win be dissing him or clowning him the same way you can’t win clowning the kid on the short bus who licks the window and rocks a Burger King crown. You’ll always end up being the one looking like an ass. Just leave that kid alone already.

Don’t hate the player hate the game, ya dig? These bum ass artists are mad at the wrong thing Soulja Boy gets constant hate but has a platinum album under his belt, they don’t plus business ventures so what? Do you as an individual, ya dig, don’t get mad at dude coz you feel he doesn’t deserve it, it’s not for you to decide, real talk.
The option not to listen to Soulja Boy is there for all to exercise. He’s got a fanbase that digs he’s work so it is what it is. Hiphop is not a school report that needs to be handed in to be graded thats the bull you get from magazines and the media tryin to tell the sheep what they should like.
A diss record aimed at either direction is a waste of time youtube or worldstar is more entertaining in regards to these 2 artists.

I agree with Dart Adams. But what I really want to expose is how important the hackers are to the music industry. Im not saying soulja boy did this. But you can never know. Many artist buy those views and myspace stats. I personally know a couple that have done it. (and got signed lmao) But hey the labels were not hip to the internet so they fell for it. If the artist can get away with it they will. I just think we need to stop the game thru views.. its like votes you cant trust them all the time to be counted right. I cant wait until we get to place where its just about good content…
Soulja boy has cool content but not lasting music in my mind. If the industry was smart they would figure out a way to make artist artist. and content artist blow.. =)

He can’t hate the player. Hate the game. lol I know that sounds cliche but for real. I understand what he’s saying though. I agree on one thing Souljah Boy said and that was the part about it not being his fault. Charles Hamilton needs to get at his label.

Soulja Boy makes some points…It really is not Soulja’s fault that the people love simplicity in their music and some funny dance moves.
The Mario-advice was off the hook
And of course there’s nothing to discuss about lyrics in this case, we all know who the better lyricist is. But Soulja is on a level where that ish doesn’t matter to him any f’in more..

As much as I can’t stand his music, Souljah Boy made some good points…at least before he started cooning and showing off those fucked up patent-leather shoes of his. It’s really not his fault things are the way they are…It’s the industry in general.
I’d like to see more balance, like Henry M. said. Still, I don’t blame the kid for making his money the way he did.

OK I’ll weigh in Soulja Boy’s comedic value is unfuckwitable……He says some real barber shop hilarity shit. C Hamilton, not a fan and haven’t heard anything to mke me think dude is anything special. 2008 is the era of the overhyped and Hamilton,Roth and the others fall into that category. Hype over substance. It fucks me up that tho’ I don’t feel Soulja Boy at all(I’m 30 plus) I gotta agree that Cory Gunz is the one(Blu is aiight too) that actually can spit and has REAL skills.
as far as this “battle” he Ethe’d young Chuck with his wit. I’ll wait on round 2, but I think Hamilton takes himself too serious to be really funny with his response, but I’ll keep an open mind.

I don’t know what’s the age group of the people who’s leaving these moments, but people fail to realized Soulja boy doesn’t make music for us; 22 and older. THIS IS A BUSINESS!!! I DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW PEOPLE GRIND SO HARD FOR A RECORD DEAL AND THEN COMPLAIN. WTF TYPE OF SHIT IS THAT? IT ISN’T SOULJA BOY’S FAULT THAT CHARLES HAMILTON DOESN’T HAVE A NICHE…DEMOGRAPHIC TO PITCH HIS MUSIC TO.

As inarticulate as it sounded the kid has a point! Oh and he is funny folks. listen I use to laugh at pop goes the weasel. (song 3rd base made mocking vanilla ice) I accepted Ice cube dissing MC Hammer under the veil that it’s not real hip hop music. I too listen Common’s I use to love her and get nostalgic. I still consider myself a true back packer, hell I can’t stand the black eye peas, or as the LA times called them the safest rap group on the planet.
This crying over balance after a while though is a mute point. There is balance it’s called the internet. Hip hop does not belong to one side or group of people, it belongs to everyone. Backpackers need to stop crying wolf. All of the hate and venomous statement said or put at the feet of this teenager, have little to do with him and more to do with you

There’s two type of people out here in the industry. There’s the artist and the entertainer. The entertainer is in it for the money. They’re gonna do whatever to sell, and that’s cool. The artist makes music for himself and see’s if it sells. If people like it they like it, if they don’t they don’t. It doesn’t matter. You can’t hate on a nigga tryna get money. I just don’t like when entertainers pass themselves off as artist. Make whatever kinda music you want, and listen to whatever you want. Just don’t fool yourself into thinking it’s good. I mean vanilla ice sold a lot of records too.

This is not the era for quality music. No one spending money wants to hear quality shit now. They just wanna dance and chant jibberish. No artist that is really saying anything is selling. This is the era of Milli-Vanilli. Vocoders and auto-tune is rampant. Fake ass gang members and tight jeans are everywhere. Sometimes you just gotta fall back and let the clowns perform their show. Stay true to who you are and don’t worry about the next person is doing. If dude does have quality music, then he don’t want soulja boys fans anyway. They followers and just hop trend to trend….
He do go the right name though. Soulja boy.. He’s like those lil boy soldiers in those African countries. They just put a gun in they hand and tell em that they a soldier. Well somebody threw a mic in his hand and told him that he was a rapper. Toy soldiers rapping. See what hip hop has turned into.

Why Soulja Boy is worrying about a dude who has no hit record out, no album in sight, and who’s real fame is only when the PC’s are on is beyond me. This is a BUSINESS. lyrical smyrical is okay maybe playing Madden or something like that, but Soulja Boy is a GOLD selling rap artist – its like anyone with videos spinning on TV responding to an artist like Papoose, who has no album out, and only has fame in free mix CD’s and the rap websites.
People can say what they want to about Soulja Boy (and i dont really listen to his music, but completely respect his place in the industry and his appeal to HIS audience, which is NOT over 21 years old), but he makes records for HIS 21 and under audience, and has revolutionized how you market yourself as an artist. Some of the 1990’s holdovers should’ve stopped throwing youtube shots at him and put some of that same attitude into their marketing schemes.

To Charles Hamilton:
If you can’t break through the mainstream hyman that’s your own fault homeboy. You choose to deal with the same label as Soulja boy and expected them to market you differently? C.H. is labeled a “Hipster” and thinks hipster is a new term!? I used to read about new rappers listen out for their music. Now I hear about new rappers and don’t bother even thought its eaiser now to hear their music than ever before. I credit soulja boy for doing his thing he made a song that people liked. I blame everyone who’s blaming someone for the state of hip hop.
Out with the old in with the new:
That’s how life goes. I don’t want to dress & sound like my Father and the younger generation doesn’t want to dress and sound like me.

this reminds me of around 91-92 when people were still trying to hold on to MC Shan, Whodini, and even Big Daddy Kane to a degree (and i grew up listening to all of them and thought BDK was GOD when he was driving that customized Volvo in BK), and it was the new school dudes like Redman, Naughty By Nature, Onyx, and K-Solo that the fans were cool with but the industry wouldnt accept “the passing of the baton” and then Black Moon and the Wu just basically pushed the doors down with both of their first 2 singles and ushered in a new era of dudes.
it happens, and even with the females – they tried to hold on to Salt n Pepa for all of those years and wouldnt accept Antionette or even MC Trouble before she passed, but had the latter still lived, SNP wouldve had to eventually pass that mainstream baton
these rapping rappers – its like, when their album is a success, the rapper loves to sit on 106 in their rapper costume and take all of the credit, but when the image isnt received well with the audience, they are quick to rush and blame this and that person on lack of marketing and not believing in them. they should do what soulja boy did and go market themselves to their audience instead of relying 24-7 on the gossip blah-gers who dont have much money to buy albums anyways and will post their entire album in 2 posts claiming theyre giving them attention.

@ Chuck Holiday
I can’t co-sign what you taliking my man. ‘91-92 I was 21-22 yrs. old and I get the point your trying to convey but it’s a little off. Here’s why….all the rappers you mentioned, “the new school dudes like Redman, Naughty By Nature, Onyx, and K-Solo” all came in on a co-sign from 80’s rappers, Red & Solo(EPMD), Naughty (Latifah), Onyx (Jam Master Jay)and I could name many more, so I don’t know about this not passing the baton thing you talking about.
And you can’t possibly include female rappers in this because even until this day Hip Hop is unfortunately a man’s world and the females have a hard time getting in, and that struggle forces them into a position where they end up cutting each other’s throat just for a piece of the pie. If you look at it the only females who made it since the S-N-P days have come into the game on a male MC’s coatails.
I think what this arguement all boils down to is the difference in Hip-Hop philosophy between the generations. Marketing is not one of the pillars of Hip-Hop!! The majority of the current generation seems to believe that how many records you sell make you an legit artist….NO! Of course there’s a business side to it once you sign a contract and start making records but the diffeerence between the cats from 91-92 and the dudes now is before they got on they were in thier hood rhyming in ciphers, in the lunchroom, talent shows, community centers, ANYWHERE, wanting to get out there and show how “NICE” they were, that was there marketing scheme…skills!! Now it is just that.. “a scheme”…no skills involved. The first thing this kid starts talking about is his chain, his tour bus…who gives a f&%k, your WACK!! This is the difference. If we as Hip Hop fans accept this, then we losing the culture. This is why I defend Lil’ Wayne, and I’m not a huge fan, and I do believe he needs to be bit more selective (won’t call him a whore like 50 did, lol) but he’s trying to show the last generation that he is “NICE”. Attribute that to him coming up in the game early, but he has something that SB and the rest of his age group doesn’t have…a respect for Hip-Hop. Do you…I don’t care, but label it Hip Hop.
I could go on & on, so any body have any comments….reply. I love this Hip-Hop shit. I can talk it all day.
