The theme was love, peace, and soul at the 2013 Soul Train Awards, aired on Centric and BET on Sunday night. Taped at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, this year’s event was hosted by actor-comedian Anthony Anderson. The theme focused on music which carried the 1990s, featuring past greats and current stars.

Keith Sweat was honored with the “Lifetime Achievement Award,” while songstress Dionne Warwick received the “Legend Award.” Performances included Wale and Mint Condition’s Stokley Williams, K.Michelle, Tamar Braxton, Keith Sweat with Faith Evans, Ron Isley with Ruben Studdard, Chrisette Michelle, and Gladys Knight for a Dionne Warwick tribute. Jon B., Bobby Caldwell, Dave Koz, and Vanilla Ice rocked a “Blue-Eyed Soul” set, as Slick Rick, Warren G, Dougie E. Fresh, and Big Daddy Kane held it down with a classic hip-hop medley.

Kicking off the show, Jennifer Hudson opened with a medley featuring Chaka Khan, T.I., and Evelyn “Champagne” King. Robin Thicke, T.I., Pharrell, K. Michelle, Wale, Kendrick Lamar, Tamar Braxton, and Janelle Monae all took home wins this year.
