The sequel to Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes 2: A Game of Shadows movie is on the way, actually it doesn’t open until Dec. 16…but this first trailer looks promising, if not much of the exact same steampunk chic as the first installment. Robert Downey Jr is still Sherlock, Jude Law is still Watson…and the infamous nemesis Moriarty is played by Jared Harris (from “Mad Men”). But Sherlock’s love interest…is played by Noomi Rapace. And she looks waaay different than her bull bisexual Lisbeth Salander character from the Swedish Girl With a Dragon Tattoo trilogy. Way.

More for the movie buffs after the jump:
-the latest Dark Knight Rises eye tease…
-Mission Impossible 4’s new trailer with Paula Patton, post-baby, looking beautiful
-a mindboggling look at the schedule and production of The Hobbit

Mission: Impossible’s 4th installment, called Ghost Protocol, features Tom Cruise up against The Hurt Locker’s Jeremy Renner (rawr!), with Paula Patton as eyecandy….and Eminem on the trailer soundtrack, lol. These are always good action-packed fun. I think Part 2 was my favorite? Random: Cruise is oddly obsessed with Shaun of the Dead’s Simon Pegg. I’m not mad at that, he’s great. But it’s weird, no? This film is due out on Dec 16 2011…same day as Sherlock 2.

Director Peter Jackson takes fanboys and girls inside the making of The Hobbit, showing the massive work that’s done to find those amazing locations, the grueling schedules, and what the cast and crew plan to do during their 4 week vacation, lol. Andy Serkis, the actor who plays Gollum is also Jackson’s assistant director. Do you think that working with Peter Jackson for the past million years on the Lord of the Rings trilogy and now the two-part Hobbit prequels….do you think it just all starts feeling like one long exhausting New Zealand walkabout? Part 1: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is due out December 14, 2012. Wait…same week at Sherlock 2 and Mission 4!

And finally…this weekend when I go see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt 2 (*sob*), I’ll also see the trailer for Christopher Nolan’s highly-anticipated Dark Knight Rises. But out at small theater in Cornwall, England…one theater started playing the trailer early, which led to a guy posting a summary of the clip on a fan site. A summary of a trailer of a movie. lol.

Gary Oldman voiceover, talking about how they needed him, then he had to disappear. Footage of Bruce Wayne walking up the mountain from Batman Begins, and surrounded by bats from Batman Begins. This is intercut with Gary Oldman looking like he is dying in a hospital bed, talking to what seems to be Bruce Wayne in the foreground. Footage of the batpod driving away from the camera from TDK. Then it goes black, and Tom Hardy as Bane in his mask appears for a moment, then disappears. Logo in a crumbling skyline, as in the poster, then the film name, then a shot of a worn out Batman about to fight Bane in the foreground.

I’m all about Bane…well more specifically Bane actor Tom Hardy, who was fantastic as Eames in Nolan’s Inception. Until we have the trailer to share, here’s another well-designed Dark Knight Rises graphic.
