Screamfest MSG with Kanye-50-Hov-T.I-Diddy-Swizz-n-Ciara….When Hip Hop Goes Right…very very right
Posted by Miss Info under concerts , good for hip hop[80] Comments

Wow, talk about a show to end all shows. Tonite, Madison Square Garden saw a legendary moment….
At the Screamfest (of all friggin’ places!?!), during T.I.’s final set, he performed his hits like “Rubberband Man” and “Bring ‘Em Out,” but then….in the words of my homie for life, Shaheem Reid from MTV News…
“Tip started another cut from his album, “Watch What You Say.” After the first verse, a banner of Jay-Z’s hands throwing up the dynasty sign rolled down the back of the stage.
Jay-Z then began to stroll down a long runway, to the main stage, in the middle of the Garden. The crowd must not have believe its eyes, because there was no reaction at first…The audience went wild.
After “Watch What You Say,” … As Kanye West’s “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” started to play, ‘Ye himself walked slowly from the runway to the main stage. During all this, 50 ran to the stage from another part of the venue — seemingly unplanned, because Jay and T.I. both looked a little surprised.
But there were no incidents and no signs of rivalries — as Kanye rapped, 50 ran around the stage like he was doing a victory lap, stopping along the way to bump shoulders and say what’s up to Tip, ‘Ye and Jay. Then, out of nowhere, Diddy ran up and got onstage with them. Although the audience was rocking to West, the spectacle of seeing everybody together onstage — especially the two guys who have been hyping their September 11 in-store showdown — on one stage at the same time took precedence They were all smiling and dancing and genuinely enjoying the camaraderie.”
Wowza.
Just when you start wondering if these stars are missing the point, they surprise you by showing that they get it. They work for you. The fans. Merry Christmas
I love how at the end of the show, 50 still made sure to yell out “I run New York” before leaving the stage. Just had to get the last word in, right? And yes, he did perform with Ciara earlier in the show. Also, big up to Kanye for showing love to 50 despite the rumors that he’s dropping a diss song before Sept11th. Thats being the bigger man. Diddy had absolutely no reason to be there but, hey, he was only hip hop artist big enough to handle MSG ten years ago, so he probably still has time left on his stage pass. Also, Swizz followed up the moment by coming on to rock “Money in the Bank,” which kept the crowd’s high going.
Make sure you check out Shaheem’s evocative account of the history-making night at mtvnews.com, and also check out Walik Gorshon’s flicks. Up top and below are some favorites….

PS: somewhere, out there, tonite, Bowwow is in a corner, rocking back in forth, in a fetal position. His tour and his girl? Cruel cruel world.
UPDATE:
Yay, thank you DAT for sending me your youtube video from the concert. If anyone else has one, please pass it on. Much love!
UPDATE #2: wait a minute, lol…..according to my girl Nema, 50 made the “off-with-your-head” sign with his hand onstage and pointed to Kanye, hahaha. And looking at this very jumpy footage that Nahright linked to, does it look like 50 was doing laps around the stage while Kanye was performing with Hov, to distract from them? Thoughts?
Also, Sandra Rose spotted more great pics and review details from the show at Killedthat.com

That will possibly be “The” Hip Hop Moment of the Year. I remember seeing T.I. perform in Savannah GA back in 2003 at a hole in the wall club, he ripped it. Now he’s rocking the Garden, crazy how things change. Though I thought the split personality thing was too much during the promotion of this album, I’m happy he’s made it.
Miss Info, during the Screamfest? I’m amazed too. I would be surprized if Puffy DIDN’T get on stage (he was probably on stage during Young Joc’s set too) when he knew an event like that was going down.
Another positive event with no drama, Bill O’Reilly and Fox News need to talk about this.
Hopefully this was recorded, will be edited and released to the public.
Lmao @ bow wow in a corner in a fetal position.

LOL! 50 and everyone seemed cool to me. Take it for what it was as a hip hop fan. Personal motives by any of them aside, they knew it was a good look when they did it. And they for damn sure know now cuz the internet and media are buzzin ova this like crazy. Def a good look for hip hop.

Def. a good look, it’s nice to see things like this from time to time. Styles P had an interesting idea on Angie’s show a while back about having meetings every now and then like the mob, imagine that, they should have a New York Tour…with every artist from NY on the bill..sounds sick right?

It does look like 50 was definitely unexpected…it looked like Jay tried to grab his arm or something before he started to make his laps. But none the less, i think 50 will always be 50…if he didn’t do that he wouldn’t be him and keep the spotlight where he wants it to be.
I think the best part was when they were all rocking to Kanye’s song together, including 50, which tells me, although he probably wasn’t suppose to be up there it was still all love…although it might of been a little awkward love, cause i don’t think you ever know what 50 is going to do. I think he got enough respect and sense not to fuck w/ Jay though…just IMO.
And of course it wouldn’t be modern day hip hop if slap happy diddy wasn’t on stage doing his shuck and jive…Overall REALLY GOOD LOOK…image if they turned around and did a East Coast Titans album Jay, Nas, 50, Kanye, Fab, T.I., Jeezy, Rick Ross and throw Swizzy, Diddy and Kalid on there for why nots…that would launch us into something totally new. Info you might have that end, MAKE IT HAPPEN!!! LOL…i tell you what if these dudes like to make money that album would be legendary!

DUDE this is sooooo major. I need more vids. Fif was looking kinda uncomfortable up there though. That’s what the laps and running were about. So he wouldn’t have to stop and like really acknowledge people. Like a red-headed step…ya know. That’s my opnion. But it was a veeerrry good look.

kcuf 50 Cent. Its a shame yall dont realize he could care less about his fans. Check out his interview on onsmash.com. He pretty much says kcuf his US fan base, he get more money overseas anyway. Not to mention he’s still rappin about selling crack and bussing AK’s (real beleivable). But, 50 pennies will get whats coming to him when people listen to both albums and realize fruitys music is garbage.

Everybody saying that this was good for hiphop are really stupid to me. This has nothing to do with hiphop. Few months ago 50 and diddy were having a beef, few weeks ago 50 and kanye were fighting in the medias. And now they are all on stage like friends? Nahh, they are jjust promoting themselves, and not the music or culture of hiphop. Just listen to what 50 is saying right now, he’s not making music, he’s making a product, a product to sell and to earn money. What happened on that show was just a promotion of products: kanye’s album & 50’s album, diddy’s making the band, and jay is the ceo of kanye right? They have all nothing to do with hip hop which is a street art. So stop saying nonsenses that this good for hiphop. This is just good for them, because that helps them to sell more of their products.

@thor….good point. but ive stopped caring too much about what the artists motive is, or how sincere it is or how much they even understand their impact or influence. That just sets me up to be more jaded than I already am (which would be difficult)….instead, I try to focus on the end result. Would this song be exciting to the fans? Yes. Anything beyond that is probably too much to ask for, lol.
Thanks for the insight though!

@Thor This is good for us as well. If they are going to use us to sell records. We might well use them for good entertainment right. Overall you are right to a degree but i figure it this way.If yall my money all yall muthafuckers better start giving me my money worth. When i said this is good for hip hop. I wasn’t saying that cause i thought these cocky bastards actually cared about music. I said that cause of the hype around it. This was one of the best moment since Jay-z and Nas was on the same stage. In your life have you ever seen 50 and Jay-z on the same stage performing? Some people might get mistaken by what they are doing but i already know.
