Santogold on Current TV

Here’s a perfect example of how hip hop media/new media/guerrilla journalism can work. Santogold, I’ve heard all the buzz, and because of said buzz, my gut reaction is to reject, lol. But thanks to a well-done, sincere, BS-free segment on Current, I’m exposed to the gal’s work, getting a feel for what kind of artist she is, and now feeling open to giving it a try. Her style of music isn’t my everyday all day, but I like the cut of her jib. And I respect her hustle, as do others as seen in this video.
As I’ve said before…Current Tv. Highly underrated.

“I like the cut of her jib.”
Did you just turn into an old man?
I saw Stiffed (Santi’s other band) at some dingy basement in Manhattan and it was one of the most energetic shows I’ve seen since I was a kid. I hope they didn’t break up.

Very interesting piece. Current may be on the rise…much better segment than MTV News or whatever…much enjoyed and turned onto Santogold. Likewise, I can’t take so much of her in a day. But I’ll keep my eyes and ear out for her. BTW she’s hot-looking. Honest.

@binary…..hahaha, in so many ways I am a 70 year old jewish man. And a 12 year old japanese boy.
@kyle…I love that nowadays we discover music via videogames. I’m sure the guys at Rockstar music will be very very happy to hear that. I fell in love with “Maps” by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs via RockBand….bought it on itunes and all that! lol….
@marcus…not sure about the hot-looking part but to each their own : )

I have the non popular opinion here and respect to those that dig her but:
Overated, and over hyped.
Just like Jay Electronica.
See you back here june 2009, except I wont have to say “I told you do”

No, she doesnt sound like MIA at all. And Diplo is totally someone that MIA would of not have produce songs for her album. I’m starting turn against the hipster.
