Royce da 5′9″ and Slaughterhouse squash Wu-Tang beef at Rock the Bells

Royce da 5′9″ addresses the recent Joe Budden vs. Method Man and Inspectah Deck tension, while onstage with Slaughterhouse at Rock the Bells, Jones Beach. (big up to Mike Fresh on the cam)
I knew Inspectah Deck and Method Man were planning to join Raekwon today at Jones Beach, and wondered what way that was going to go….and there were reports via twitter of crews chasing other crews backstage, of fisticuffs and shouting matches and more. But from what my sources said, Joe Budden and Method Man did in fact talk face-to-face. There may have been a little chest-thumping by related crews but when Slaughterhouse took the stage soon afterward….Royce told the crowd that there was no beef between Slaughterhouse and Wu-Tang, and that they respected the legendary crew….oh, but Royce didn’t let his peacemaking get in the way of jabbing Charles Hamilton during his freestyle, lol. (see above)
After the jump….watch the rest of Slaughterhouse’s freestyle session and more….
Pardon the interruption…but:
Today was a lesson learned in sourcing news. Just because people are famous or popular, that doesn’t that they can’t hear sensationalized or exaggerated hearsay just like the rest of us. (Thanks, Soulja Boy!) So it never hurts to wait and listen and ask a few more questions.
We’re increasingly demanding and being forced to feed a cycle of immediacy…that threatens to make analysis and context obsolete. (Will all the people who read the “exclusive” also read the retraction….or will there even be a retraction?) And this is no indictment. What person doesn’t want to know? And who wants to know, later? I’ve definitely been “glamored” by someone’s enthusiasm into talking first and then doublechecking later (in fact, it happened just last week). And all around us, there are new alluring ways of sharing information…mixed in with partial guesses, gut feelings, and reactions to all the above. For now, there’s some excitement in this communal factfinding mission that a single tweet can set off.
But eventually, we may all find that it takes up too much time and energy…

This was a smart move. This could have potentially heated into something else. Now niggaz can just RAP & not worry about the bullshit. Sometimes niggaz gotta take a step back & do something that fans won’t like, but it’s for the greater good of Hip Hop. Fans love drama. Artists want respect. We have to find a medium & this is it for this situation. Shout to Slaughterhouse & Wu-Tang. Both groups are legendary in Hip Hop. Let’s gooooo!

Slaughterhouse has done absolutely nothing legendary my dude. absolutely nothing. What legendary song, what legendary album?? nothing dude, they just started in the game. If they been around for years, then they scrubs because I never heard of them b4 the 09. Bottom line, joe was running head on with a freight meteor, and that impact was gonna blow joe into a gazillion pieces. He took the bigger man road, after asll that, “I’m really crazy” talk cause reality had set in. He realized he was gonna get hurt, and past a certain point, I dont care about the lyrucal. Son was provoking a physical confrontation, and niggas know that.

My definition of legendary is doing something that will be remembered in a positive way. The official definition is a person or thing that inspires. There are many legends in all aspects of entertainment, sports & life in general that never won awards or were recognized, but will always be remembered. Slaughterhouse will be remembered for their bars regardless of how many albums they sell, or singles they have. You can become a legend off of one 16, the same way you can become a legend off of 1 dunk, or 1 crossover in basketball.

Blah, Blah, Blah…..SlaughterHouse are no legends, by no definition, “official” or otherwise, period

Oh yeah and your analogy sucks too…..your not a legend off of 16 bars…then we could consider Canibus, Ras Kass, and boatload of others legends. As far as basketball goes is Dee Brown a legend?? How about J.R. Rider, or Cedric Ceballos?? Those are legendary plays, or dunks, or verses or songs, but that doesn’t make the person a legend. I like SH so far but legendary?? I think not.

Haha good point! I do consider Canibus & Ras Kass lyrical legends tho. How wouldn’t they be if we’re talking about them now? I also consider Dee Brown & Vince Carter b-ball legends as far as the dunk contest goes. Just as in b-ball there are people that get remembered for different things. With Hip Hop you can be remembered for a hit song, or a battle. I guess we just have to agree to disagree.

I think you’re mistaking “memorable” for “legendary”..but yeah we’ll agree to disagree..Peace.

i dont get why all those people think joe’s a bitch or whatever for apologizing. That’s what a real man does when they realize they done fucked up. Joe wasnt even wrong in the 1st place it was just his own opinion, but maybe he could’ve just not named names. I heard Decks diss record and it was pretty good, but do you guys think for one second Joe didnt have something for any one of the remaining members of the Clan???? big ups to joe for being the bigger man and big up to Mef for squashing shit too

Dont co-sign that Info…a “real man” thinks before he talks and Joey took this to another level with the inflammatory shit he was talking. Calling a man out of his name (faggot, coward) is also not man-like. He didn’t expect all his shit-talking to garner this much “attention”. I didnt want to see anything violent or basically detrimental to Hip Hop happen but just the way this dude flip flops you can’t sit here and tell me he’s being the bigger man…a minute ago he didn’t give a f$%*…it was whatever, whoever. But I guess that was a selective “whoever”. He wanted it on wax…again, WHOEVER, doesnt agree or like what he was sayin should bring it. It was brought, by INS…now he’s taking the high road?? Almost an entire freestyle with Wu-Tang shots and he’s says it had nothing to do with them…but then he says he’s a man who stands behind what he says..whatever…like another commenter said (big up Chuck N.I.C.E.!!) The internet is to blame for this..if it weren’t for the ‘net i wouldn’t know Joe Buddens was a fraud…I would just think he’s nice & thats that.

Joey’s apology was the right thing to do.Because it my not have been direct Wu vs Slaughterhouse negativity that would result but he all know how crews, “yes men”, etc could act in these circumstances.
I don’t think Joey’s a “bitch” BUT he is compiling a legit list of instances where he’s crossing the line (“habitual line stepping”) then doing the “I’ll be a bigger man” move. I just don’t know how many times you can tempt fate.

i cosign this more than that original he’s being the better man comment. i also agree with the last two posters ahead of you. do people think before they act/speak anymore is that a forgotten practise? good on squashing shit, but would it be there if he hadn’t gone and set all of this in motion. please.

I was lucky enough to catch Wu’s surprise spot on the main stage. At the end, Meth went into a speech about how nobody could destroy his crew’s legacy, etc. Then I hit the 2nd stage where I waited for Slaughterhouse. While waiting, I glimpsed Inspektah Deck walking over to the side and then behind the 2nd stage. 10 mins later, Slaughterhouse is on and then Royce goes into saying they don’t have beef. Even heads in the audience were changed Eff Wu and Joe stopped them and said he’s not down with that. Kudos for stepping up and deadin this nonsense before it got out of hand. My only question is, where was Ghostface???

Joey what are you talking about still. You took a shot at Deck with that “Im controlled by uncontrolled substances. I show yall niggas what substance is” You also was the only one to actually threaten somebody. “I was looking for you (Deck) to beat you up. You a faggot” Joey your mouth is always writing checks that your ass cant cash. Your a liar, a junkie, a blog crime boss and you been exposed to the world.

Mr. Chernak C.M.G. 5 Star General was there at Rock The Bells (Ny, Md) I saw everything on both stages. I had on Tan shirt, Army green shorts. I was on stage listening to Decks show CD when Ice Tee was kickin his sh!t. For the record Tahari (sp). You are a beautiful woman. You look way better in person than you do in those magazines. Keep your clothes on and do your thang baby. Dont let this industry or anybody else (including yourself) pimp you. Get at me

I wonder if the rest of the group is as irritated as Hip Hop is with Joe “I need attention 24/7″ Buttons. His studio gangsterism is taking away from his lyrical talent, which most agree isn’t bad.

Info, I love your quote:
“We’re increasingly demanding and being forced to feed a cycle of immediacy…that threatens to make analysis and context obsolete.”
It really sums up this 1-minute generation. Being relevant is being Right-Now or you’re over/old news.

thank you. sadly, I think the very thing I was talking about is why I don’t think most folks even paid attention to that paragraph. I’d almost like to open up the discussion into something on its own….because I think about it all the time. And btwn Gucci and JoeBudden and so many other stories all day….its not becoming less relevant, its becoming more.

That’s kind of why everyday I log on I hope to hear/see that you’re starting a new forum or getting some other outlet to really talk about stuff. That’s why as a non twitter I still follow your page just for real insight.
Clearly you have quite a full plate but damn a Miss Info internet radio hour or something would be amazing.

well sometimes I think about ustreaming or something…but then I wonder….isnt it weird and presumptuous to think ppl want to watch u just talk to yourself? It felt relevant when we watched Lost on webcam but just random convo seems odd. I could talk about what ppl like and dont like in blogs….but then read the comments outloud and comment?
July 21st, 2009 at 2:20 pm
@ Miss Info
If you tried a once or twice a month thing. Be it on ustream or whatever you could see what the turn out is like. Maybe take the most “debated” topic(s) that you actually feel strongly about and just speak on them. Or maybe even through Blogtalk radio to enable people to call in? Just ideas but I know I’d(and many other would) support it.

Wu Tang did used to run shit, nothing lately though.Slaughter house is definately relavent and i would say are doing way more quality work lately. Both wanted beef to raise their relavance and to get publicity its all about the $$$$$$, none of those guys are street, or thug get real and stop buying into marketing hype .
