Rock The Bells Cancels Washington, D.C. & New York Shows Due to Poor Ticket Sales

It’s a sad day for Rock The Bells. Despite making two successful stops in L.A. and San Francisco earlier this month — the former where Eazy-E and Ol’ Dirty Bastard were resurrected in hologram form — the touring hip-hop festival has been forced to cancel its remaining two shows in Washington, D.C. and the New York area due to poor ticket sales. Wu-Tang Clan, J. Cole, Pusha T, Kid Cudi and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony were all on the bill for the respective Sept. 28-29 and Oct. 4-5 dates. According to XXL, Rock The Bells will take a $3 million loss from the cancellations, but will refund all tickets.
everyone trying to be rock the bells end up losing money on their festivals and also jeopardize rock the bells itself. aka no one wins.

The NY show was moved to far from the summer & always changing location. It went from Jones Beach to Governors Island to the Meadowlands racetrack. Sad that an original festival celebrating hip hop & its past gets pushed out for a commercialized one like JayZ Made in America sponsored by Budweiser Samsung & whomever else Jay is scamming

This is rock the bells NY. I have been faithful to rock the bells since wutang and rage but last year and this year I did not buy a ticket. The festival wants us to pay for 3 days of hotel and transportation to see a show, this turns into one of those mega festivals where you realistically need to spend 600+ easy just to be there. That’s not what RTB is about man. They couldn’t of had success at jones beach? It seems like they just make it harder to go each year, idk if its cause of demand or competition but this is truly sad. They should of asked the fans what we wanted and where, not put it in jersey (where summer jam just was) and asked us if we wanted to see Eazy E and ODB holograms, cause we would of told you no.

The problem with Rock the Bells is that they have the same show every yr with the same acts. If you’ve seen one you’ve seen them all for the most part. They really needed to spice things up and in recent yrs it seemed so disorganized.

you went to Governor Island? I was there! and man it was great! I still remember the Mobb Deep show. Them doing Shook Ones as it got dark LOL. To be honest, the recent Rock The Bells just don’t look interesting. Pusha T? J Cole? No thanks. Not trying to see such garbage. I feel for RTB because they’re in a tough boat. If they only have ‘old school’ rappers then they’ll probably run around. You need new blood to keep a festival going. But so many of the new acts are TRASH. If they could get Lil B & ASAP Rocky for RTB I’d go for sure! Lil B is hilarious.

correction *If they only have ‘old school’ rappers then they’ll probably run out of interesting shows*
